I recently stayed at the Hilo Naniloa Hotel during my recent business trip (with co-workers) to Hilo. My Scenic Ocean View room offered a spectacular view of Hilo Bay and the Hamakua Coast. The front desk was warm and inviting. The General Manager, Terry also greeted us at check-in. What a nice welcome. The Hilo Naniloa Hotel offers great value... More

Hotel is undergoing renovations and from the looks of it, january 2016 it's going to be beautiful. It was nice, but very basic. They didn't have complementary conditioner (only shampoo) or a microwave, or room service available. We were on our honeymoon and were supposed to have a king size bed but we had two full size beds. There are... More

We enjoyed our stay--room 531 and 331! My son and I liked this side of the hotel as we could see the water. The sheets were very nice and the bed was comfortable. The fridge in the room came in handy. We were very thankful that Nicole got us in on a Saturday night…the last hotel room in Hilo after... More

A different opinion than most recent reviewers as we found the Naniloa to be more than satisfactory given the price and location. This is Hilo, people, not Waikiki. Hotels here are limited and none I've seen would be called luxurious. Yes, there is much renovation going on. The lobby is tiny, elevators slow and there are no restaurants at this... More

Aloha, We appreciate your candid and fair comments on the current condition of the property and glad you realized the great value we are offering for the shortfalls in amenities at this time. The ocean and bay views are the best and hope you can return next year to see a full service Doubletree property with all the amenities. More

Hotel is under construction. Pool is horrible. No amenities on property. Tile everywhere, making it loud. The elevators are slow, and filled half the time with staff going from floor to floor. Staff was OK, had one staff at front desk who didnt seem to like her job, everyone else was OK. Not what I've experienced on other islands and... More

Aloha Monica, Operating during a full scale renovation is always challenging and why we are offering best price value of any property in Hilo during this time. I hope you will check us out after our top-down renovation is completed and we are flagged a Doubletree by Hilton with all their services and amenities. More

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. The room was white tile, white sheet, white walls. No phone in the room. No wifi, no curtains, or window covering. No blankets, and my room was 50 degrees when I walked in. Actual reading. The shower temp wouldn't get above warm. The walls were paper thin, and I heard the very noisy people a few doors... More

Aloha Sarah, Can see we failed to meet any of your expectations and believe me we are just as anxious to finish our "complete makeover" of the property including every item you mentioned and as a Doubletree we will have all the services and amenities of this brand with the most enviable view on Banyan Drive and hope you can... You could tell this place was once a groovy, & posh resort for the rich by its 1960s iconic architecture on 72 acres of surrounding golf club. Beautifully located on the ocean front in the tiny town of Hilo, this hotel is now under extensive $16 million renovation by Hilton and will be reopened as DoubeTree on the first of... More

Aloha, We appreciate your observations and glad you saw the great $ value provided during this challenging time of renovation while operating. We are proud to be "restoring " the property to its once prominent place on Banyan Drive and look forward to having you back when completed next year. More

When I first checked in I was given my room number. I quickly discovered the beds weren't made and housekeeping had missed doing their job. I went back down to the lobby, waited in line again, and eventually received a key to a different room. This took about 20 minutes. The room was decent and clean but there was no... More

Aloha Karen, We will be correcting the noise between the rooms that have connecting doors which is where it comes through as our adjoining walls are actually all 4" of concrete. The corridors will be carpeted and door thresholds added that will further quiet the room. So many improvements throughout the property and hope you can check us out again... More

Our family of four stayed here for 3 nights. The ocean view is good and it's near the airport, but you need a car - downtown Hilo is a few minutes drive away but too far to walk. The hotel is rather run down, but our room was spacious and fairly comfortable. The noisy air conditioning was feeble and it... More

The renovated room was clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable and the ocean view room was ok but partially obstructed by an ironwood tree. The room was not ready at their 3:00 pm check-in time and we had to wait in their "lounge" an additional forty minutes. The furnishings in the lounge were shabby and actually had ripped... More
