We stayed here because it was inexpensive, we were staying in Kona, and wanted to see HIlo, so we cheaped out.It was a million dollar view. We stayed in an ocean view room, it was affordable and I have stayed in much worse rooms for much more money. The grounds of this former show stopper are awesome. The location is... More

Great stop for a night. Could have been cleaner, but nice view and lots of places within walking distance.Nice park right next to the hotel and a nice small store for snacks in the next hotel over. Would stay here again.

I'm giving them 3 stars for the potential. We stayed there the weekend of March 7, 2014. The view was beautiful! My husband spent every daylight minute we were there out on the balcony watching whales and trying to get a picture. The hotel and rooms left a lot to be desired. The phones weren't working so they asked that... More

The Good Bad and the Ugly. I have never in my life been in a hotel that fits this description. I truly loved and hated my 3 days here and only a detailed description can explain. You really need to read the whole review This hotel was built about 1965, I think an additional wing was built in the 70’s,... More

this hotel does not look like pictures on the website. Nice view from the rooms but the hotel seems is not well mantained or maintaned at all. It looks like an old deserted building. Avoid at all cost

We live in Kona and were meeting friends arriving on a cruise ship so we went to Hilo a day early so we would be fresh in the morning. We selected the Naniloa because of location and price. Our room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The negatives were mainly noise. The TV from the next room was loud enough almost... More

Rooms were ok but this hotel is in a terrible state. Front desk was not friendly and the entrance was in a terrible state. Elevators looked really old and the hallway to our room looked like a hostel dorm hallway. Not worth more than 50 bucks. These guys are just cashing on the fact that there are no other good... More

I booked two rooms here on a spur of the moment trip through Hilo this month. What a mistake! We arrived after 10pm and the first impression is the place is pretty run-down. Then it gets worse. Some rooms have been renovated, and these are O.K at best, but if they try to put you in a non-renovated room, you... More

Being that this was a last minute surprise getaway so that my husband could relax and unwind with me and the kids this was the lowest rate I could find in Hilo just 2 hours before we were to get on the plane. We got in late, around 830 pm. Ate dinner and headed to check in at the hotel... More
