This hotel is very dated, and worn out. Our room had a 1" rust ring around the entire sink. Rust on the t- bar roof in the bathroom as well as black mould. There was traces of hair from previous guests left in different parts of the room. The tv took a couple of minutes of fuzzy lines before it... More

..from your storm. Quiet, simple, friendly, inexpensive by all Hawaii standards. This place has a family-owned vibe. It will no be memorable for good reasons or for bad reasons but, you don't go to Hawaii to remember the hotels. If you need a clean, friendly, quiet place to rest, this is it, and it's good on the wallet.

Booked a deluxe ocean view 2 queen room for 1 night. Our flight was delayed, arriving late. Received the key and opened the door, but none of the lights worked! All were unplugged! Had to use the flashlight app on my iphone to plug in all the lights. We decided to take showers and the bathroom was awful! Black grout... More

Hotel is older with older furnishings, etc but room was quiet & comfortable. Nice area near park & on water. Staff was friendly & breakfast (free) had lots of fresh fruit. It's budget accommodation that is quiet & clean.

10 days here! Nice place but very average, right on the beach witch is so cool, had a 1room condo and was great location for being close to town, good place but not super nice like I like! I prefer a more high quality room, but that's just me

I would have given this hotel an average rating as its ben around for a long time and its more of a motel than hotel. But the service was lacking and the fact that there is no restaurant or lounge. This is Hawaii and I expected to have at least one fruity cocktail at the hotel and not worry about... More

Just got back from 10 days at Uncle Billy's. The location is close to everything Hilo, the old Hawaii charm oozes from the place, and the staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Look folks, it's not the Belagio, but for the price, you'll not find much better. It would be nice to see the restaurant/ lounge open, but the gift... More

Uncle Billy's is a Hilo & Kona staple for decades In Hilo the dining room is closed but the gift shop/deli/store is open They have it all, anything from snacks to crocs Especially good @ night when nothing else is open on Banyan & you want to snack but don't want to drive to walmart or old Hilo town

If it hadn't been for the exceedingly poor service, I would at least rate this hotel an "average". Upon our arrival, the front desk gal didn't acknowledge our entry, not even with brief eye contact or a nod. It was as if we weren't there. The groundskeeper was quite rude to one of my family members about not feeding a... More
