After returning from the volcanos I discovered my new roommates...roaches! I called the front office and they offered to kill it for me. After seeing 3 more I decided to checkout that same night. The receptionist only comment was that "ALL the hotels in Hilo have roaches"! No apologies for the inconvenience.

Me and my wife stay at this property and we really disliked it, rooms very very downgraded I believe that this is a family owned hotel but they have to realize that people deserves better, one thing is that Hilo doesn't have a lot of hotels to choose from so our options are very limited, going back there is a... We needed somewhere to stay while the Merrie Monarch was on. Everywhere was full but Uncle Billy's got us a smoking room (their last room, and we don't smoke). This was fine with me. I can handle a lot worse. The thing that I have not been able to let go of and stop thinking about is the amount of... More

I stayed at Uncle Billy's during Merrie Monarch season, so the hotel was full to the brim. The Hotel itself is rather dated, but I kinda liked it. Room was huge (standard room) - 2 double beds and plenty of space around. Room came with a fridge too - very handy. Shower and bath in bathroom. One note about the... More

Family of 4. We stayed here to save money - and that we did. Our room was basic. We opted for the kitchenette. Had 2 burner cooktop, mini fridge, coffee maker, kitchenware for 4 and small microwave. Purchased our food at the farmers market and grocer (close by) for our stay. Continental breakfast includes fresh papaya, toast, muffins and coffee/tea/juice.... More

I had to travel to the Hilo area for work during Valentine weekend. Everyone was booked solid...except for Uncle Billy's. I went in expecting the worst. You know what? It wasn't that bad. Yep, it's dated, but they offer their rooms at a really good price AND they include a continental breakfast. I had a lovely view of the garden... More

The bathroom had the worst sewage smell that overpowered the whole room. We got the best oceanfront deluxe room that they have. If this is their best I could only imagine what other rooms are like. At midnight someone check in next to us with two screening kids. They banged and screamed until way after 2 am with no help... More

This place is old and worn out. The staff were great but this place was less than good. It is time for Uncle Billy to open his purse and re-do this place for tear it down. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

First of all, i just learned that this motel/ hotel is going out of business. It is not surprising. Hence, I dont think that this review would really matter. The only reason we ended in this place is because it was the only place we could get if I wanted to see the volcanos in Hawaii in so short notice.... More
