My husband and I visited Puakea Ranch in July 2013 and enjoyed our cottage, but one aspect of the trip still bothers me two years later. On the last night of our stay, I was using the hair dryer that THEY provided and it blew the circuit for the bathroom (the lights and the hairdryer were the only things on... More

I was so surprised to read this review today, from a guest who says they stayed with us over two year ago but decided to post a negative report on something we have no control over. (circut blowing) The Puakea Ranch host lives on the ranch just a short walk from all the cottages. Typically our host can be found... More

I read about Puakea Ranch in Sunset magazine years ago and have now visited twice with a third reservation this Fall. My first visit I stayed in Cowboy House. Very charming. My second visit I stayed in Miles Away. Also very charming. Puakea is a special place and should not be be compared to a luxury resort. It's on a... More

We stayed with the family (10 People) at the Puakea Ranch in June 2015. We were greeted warmly by a herd of horses and eventually the caretaker. It is a very quiet and peaceful place. We stayed in two houses on the ranch, Cowboy House and Yoshi House. Both houses were very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend the shower... More

If you want a quiet, lush and amazing experience then Puakea Ranch is the place for you. I hesitate to write this review because this is a gem and I would prefer it remain hidden. The Ranch: located on the way to Haw'i, it is out of the way but still close to the quaint village of Haw'i. Lots of... More

We arrived in Hawi and decided we wanted to extend our stay. Scrambling to find a place, we found "Wally" at Puakea Ranch had two nights available. Having been pioneers of the Glampering movement (we once restored a 1950's Willys truck that towed our handcrafted gypsy wagon), we took to Wally like peas and carrots. Sweet, tiny home living at... In a comical episode during our delightful stay, we were accosted on our way into the complex by a couple of horses, who persisted in licking our hood and windshield - a wonderful reminder, that, yes, you are on a ranch here. We stayed in the James Cottage, which is a perfect size for a couple and pleasing in every... More

My stay was purely magical! I didn't care about the weather as I was really coming there to rest and rejuvenate. I absolutely loved the cottage and will certainly return! It was fabulous to just sit outside and watch the butterflies, birds and animals roaming around. Harry was great and Amanda even lent me her waterproof shell coat for the... More

Our visit got off to a bad start when we arrived after a 12-hour trip with an exhausted baby to find the caretaker and others staying in the cottage we rented and no record of our prepaid reservation. Eventually they found the reservation and cleaned the cottage and after about an hour we were let in. But over the next... More

Completely restored historic Plantation Era Ranch. Individual cabins. Sustainable gardens, horseback riding, swimming pools. A quiet respite from Kohala Coast mega resorts. Great for families and the perfect romantic hideaway.

We stayed in Yoshi's house and on arrival was taken back by the sheer beauty of the Ranch. On driving up the gravel drive you could see how well the grounds were maintained and we were met by Christie and the groundsman who were very welcoming. Yoshis house was immaculate, clean and stunning. The separate shower room was large and... More
