"Areca Palms" refers to the trees that define the boundaries of this 1+ acre bed and breakfast. Nestled along the west coast of the big island of Hawaii, you can enjoy a view of the Pacific Ocean from the veranda where Janice serves a delicious Hawaiian breakfast. She will even "adapt" it to your particular tastes, mine being fruit. Both... More

This a must stay location!!! My wife and I were on the Big Island for a friend's wedding/vacation and we chose to stay at this Bed and Breakfast-we were extremely happy that we did. From the day we arrived to the day we left, we were received with nothing but kindness, hospitality, and good fun conversation. Steve and Janice are... More

Very nice, clean and cosy accomodation. A really wonderful oasis of relaxing in paradise. The breakfast is easy to describe: WONDERFUL, prepared with love by Janice. Easy to lend beach equipment and to get good tips for trips, beaches or snorkeling. All in all, if we return to Hawaii, we will stay there.

The ride to Areca Palms Estate B&B is just the usual Hawaii roadway, but when you go through the entrance, you are in a beautiful delightful world. The grounds are lovely. The place is clean and interesting. The sitting room is warm and welcoming. The rooms are comfortable. They will lend you beach equipment. They have printed directions for sight... More

The Areca Palms B&B is an excellent choice for stays on the western side of the Big Island. In the town of Captain Cook, it's less than 10 miles from Kailua-Kona, and about a 1/2 hour from the airport. The B&B is just off the main road, up a short single-lane street that goes through an ordinary enough Hawaiian neighborhood.... More

This was a truly wonderful place to stay. The house was old and gracious, with verandas, balconies, and big screened windows. The grounds were immaculate, filled with beautiful plants. Our room (Blue Willow) was cozy, very comfortable, and beautifully decorated; we were glad it had no air conditioning (makes us too cold), but instead, had a beautiful evening breeze coming... More

We do appreciate the comment regarding the best place stayed in 10 days in Hawaii. That makes us very proud and tells us that after 15 years of B&B here in Hawaii that we are still meeting or exceeding our guests needs. Thank you very much! More

Reasonably priced and very nice B&B, the owners are attentive and very pleasant. The room we had (Rose room) was large and very comfortable, the owners clean the rooms daily. This is not a typical cheap breakfast served up, Janice is a terrific cook!!! I can't imagine a better value in the Kona area, thanks Janice & Steve!!!!!!

When we first arrived, we met up with Steve, one of the hosts. He was not pleased to see us because he was expecting us to arrive later in the evening. Instead, we arrived at 4:00, during normal check-in times. He was rather surly and told us to take off our shoes before entering. He led us to the Garden... More

This review is true. These guests had emailed us to tell us that they would be arriving after 6PM. The expectation they set allowed me more time to work on yard projects where I get quite dirty. I was surprised when they arrived as I hadn't had a chance to air their room or get cleaned up. My "gruff" reply... More

Spent our entire week on the Big Island here. It's very clear that Janice and Steve Glass love what they do - it shows in the accommodations, the food, and their own earnest desire to help you have a great time. Everything you read about the breakfasts is true: they are healthy, substantial, and simply beautiful to just look at!... More

This B & B is situated in a beautiful spot in a quiet residential area above Captain Cook. The accommodation is spacious and excellent, with a lanai on which one can enjoy the superb sunsets. It is very well situated for exploring the Kona coast and Steve provided excellent advice on places to snorkel, as well as equipment, cool boxes... More
