This is my honest opinion, written with future visitors in mind. We stayed in a first floor unit for 4 nights in January 2015. Every room has a view overlooking an orchard and the ocean beyond. Even the view from our first floor lanai was a treat, with wonderful photogenic sunsets. There are only a few choices: which floor, number... More

On our trip to the Big Island we stayed in an upscale resort, vrbo home and this hotel. It completed our Hawaii experience and gave us a glimpse into Hawaii's past. Quaint, simple and probably has kept the original furniture and fixtures from the bygone era. If you stay with this frame of mind you will have a lovely experience.... More

If you're looking for upscale resort-type lodging, don't bother. But if you want no- frills accommodations, friendly service and immaculate rooms in a place with a vintage-y vibe, this is your place. Great restaurant, too--- billed as the "oldest on the Island". Super prices and really tasty. Our room was really spare, no TV, pictures on walls, or headboard on... More

We chose to stay at Manago Hotel after reading about it in travel reviews, we spent just the one night after spending 4 on the Hilo side of the island. It was, as described old, it had charm, a little verandah to watch the sunset. We walked up the road and picked up some Asian for dinner which was lovely.... More

The towns on the Big Island with all their nostalgic charm of pre 50s is the major draw card of the destination...Which is the essence of Manago Hotel. Super retro with clean simple rooms, ensuite, balcony, ocean and sunset view, plenty of space, all for a way cheaper price than a dorm bed in a hostel when split between 2,3... More

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR - THERE IS A REASON IT IS INEXPENSIVE: 1) Hot - No AC - rooms get hot during the day 2) Loud - very thin walls, can hear everything above, around, and below you, including neighboring dogs barking and people yelling at their dogs to be quiet - this includes night time when you... We had heard so much about this hotel, so finally decided to give it a go. We wanted a cheap room with a shared bathroom but were told all they had was the expensive room, which I am uncertain whether this was true as the place didn't seem that busy when we got there. Pluses were great views and nice... More

This Inn is located on Hwy 11. The directions on the hotel website are good and I wish I had paid a bit more attention to them as I arrived during the evening rush hour and it was all a bit hectic. There are parking areas at both ends of the hotel. If coming from the south just be brave... More

I came through here with my family and they were so accommodating. The roll away bed was quite comfortable compared to other hotels we've stayed at. The location worked out really well for the farmers market, snorkeling at Two Step, and the bay. I would highly recommend that you request the 3rd floor. You get stunning sunsets over the bay,... The place is okay and cheap. The beds are not that great and it was fairly clean. One person was complaining about ants in room. Wifi did not work in our room, but did work well in dinner room. Our room was at the end. We had to top floor to try and cut down on noise from people walking... More
