We had heard nothing but good things from friends that have stayed there. They were spot on.. The historic Hotel met all our expectations, but the dining was beyond belief. World class chef and a back bar featuring single malt scotch. Cant wait to go back,

My wife and I spent two nights at this lovely historic hotel. It is undoubtedly the cleanest hotel that we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Nellie Ross room with everything just perfect. The decor of the hotel is marvelous with the largest mounted buffalo head that I have ever seen located in the reading room. This hotel... More

Their website made the hotel sound wonderful, but our impression upon arrival fell so far short of expectations that we elected not to stay. We offered to pay for one night, but they stood firm on their 48-hour cancellation rule and charged us for two nights. We would simply caution others to see the hotel in person before making a... This reviewer was never a guest at the hotel or the restaurant. He reserved a room for two nights and the confirmation he received stated the cancellation policy of 48 hours quite clearly. We make exceptions for emergencies, closure of the interstate and if we can rent cancelled rooms (a rarity since we are a destination rather than a transient... More

My husband and I spent one night at the Elk Mountain Hotel and have already made reservations to return with another couple in six weeks. The hotel and the diningroom were all that we had hoped and more. Our room, the Louis Armstrong, was comfortable in every way, while preserving the feel of an hotel over 100 years old. Lovely... If you like historic hotels as I do, this one is an absolute delight. It has been beautifully renovated, each room is decorated differently and each room has its own modern bathroom. The entire hotel is absolutely immaculate and perfectly maintained. The menu in the serene dining room has a great selection and everything we had was absolutely delicious! Best... More

A friend and I spent two nights at the lovely Historic Elk Mountain Hotel; and we both fell in love with the ambiance, the food, the British couple who operate it (Susan and Arthur), the food, the teddy bears we found in our impeccably decorated and maintained turn-of-the-century rooms, the food, the glorious poppies depicted in paintings throughout the hotel... Dear Candi, Thanks for the kind remarks. I will make sure my co-workers see the messages you left for them. It was a pleasure to meet both of you and we are enjoying the book you left us to read. Very educational. Of course we can do special teas. Just come with a group and we might even be able... More

You get the best of both world's with being able to hike in the Snowy Mountain Range, where you can go for miles without seeing a soul, and ending up in the Elk Mountain Hotel with a fabulous Sidecar and Steak. This is my idea of the perfect mountain experience. Gorgeous and comfortable furnishings in the rooms. Book now if... More

Storms in Denver delayed our arrival by more than 2 hours. A quick call to the hotel and we were assured that it would be no problem to change our dinner reservation to a later time. This hotel, the accommodating owners and fantastic food were just what we needed to decompress after a hectic trip from CT. The decor and... More

My wife and I revisited the historic Elk Mountain Hotel again this year, for a week-long visit, and we were not disappointed. Last year, when we visited for the first time, it was a three-day stay. This year, we came back for more of what we liked best the first time, which is a first-class, ‘destination hotel’ experience culminating what... More

A nice visit, nice room, nice owners, great food, what else can you want? Had the Salmon which was fixed just right. Easy to find, breakfast served at 8AM before we left. A nice stay. Can highly recommend. Right next to a stream/river. No TV in the rooms, but there was one in the first floor "parlor" where you can... More
