Had a wonderful stay this summer! Went on some fabulous rides on some great horses. The horses are all incredibly well cared for and fun to ride, and there is an endless variety of trails to go on. The cabins were comfortable, the people we met were friendly and interesting and came from all walks of life. Mel, Hadley, Richard... More

We vacationed at Bitterroot Ranch in August 2014. We stayed at the ranch for a week and explored different trails everyday, always finding new, beautiful places. The ranch is located in a lush, verdant valley along the Wind River in the middle of thousands of acres of national forest land. Every ride had amazing vistas of grasslands, forests, valleys, and... Bitterroot is run by a wonderful family who is attentive to your every need. They are the consummate hosts, eager to please whether it be regarding the type of horse you ride to the type of food you prefer. Food was great, served in a family room with several shared dining tables. We made same great new friends and had... More

When seeking a guest ranch in western U.S., it is logical to think of horseback riding, fishing, hiking and some sights of historical interest. Bitterroot Ranch offers horseback riding, horseback riding and horseback riding. Your choice is to spend all day in the saddle or all day sitting on the porch. Accommodations are basic and food is ordinary but the... More

Bitterroot was an amazing experience from start to finish - and well worth the long journey from Scotland. Mel, Bayard, Richard and Hadley were the most interesting people with wonderful stories to tell. The horses were clearly well cared for and knew their jobs - we felt confident over the ever changing terrain at all paces, from climbing over fallen... More

This is a very later review after my visit to Bitterroot in August of 2005. I was a beginner rider. My experience with the good, the bad and the ugly at the end was very very good. I have unforgettable memories from my visit. My room was excellent. I travelled alone so I asked Mel not to put me in... More

I created an account just to post this review - overall Bitterroot Ranch was a tremendous experience for my best friend's bachelor party celebration. While still there we were discussing coming back! Everything was perfect: the staff was kind, fun and accommodating; beautiful scenery; great activities; delicious food and perfect weather. Activities included horseback riding/touring, cattle sorting, shooting, rodeo'ing (?),... More

Hard to imagine how a riding vacation could be better than here: location is surrounded by beautiful, varied open country and you go on two long rides per day, never one the same trail in a week. Horses are well cared for, and the staff choose horses based on your experience and height. The staff is professional but casual: wranglers... More

My wife and I spent a week at The Bitterroot Ranch riding about 5 hours a day. My wife says it was her best vacation ever, and that is going some. I have to agree. We were so very impressed with the entire establishment. From the write up, and online reviews, we expected good horses. But we didn't know they... More

I cannot speak highly enough about the experience my family and I had at Bitterroot Ranch. The Fox family and the ranch staff are fun, interesting, knowledgeable and compassionate people. The accommodations are rustic, cozy and comfortable. The food is delicious and plentiful. The scenery is astonishingly spectacular. And the horses…the amazing, happy horses…made this vacation a dream come true... More
