Hard to imagine how a riding vacation could be better than here: location is surrounded by beautiful, varied open country and you go on two long rides per day, never one the same trail in a week. Horses are well cared for, and the staff choose horses based on your experience and height. The staff is professional but casual: wranglers... More

My wife and I spent a week at The Bitterroot Ranch riding about 5 hours a day. My wife says it was her best vacation ever, and that is going some. I have to agree. We were so very impressed with the entire establishment. From the write up, and online reviews, we expected good horses. But we didn't know they... More

I cannot speak highly enough about the experience my family and I had at Bitterroot Ranch. The Fox family and the ranch staff are fun, interesting, knowledgeable and compassionate people. The accommodations are rustic, cozy and comfortable. The food is delicious and plentiful. The scenery is astonishingly spectacular. And the horses…the amazing, happy horses…made this vacation a dream come true... More

A friend and i (we are both equestrian trail riders) decided to take a trip out west to do some real mountain riding. We ended up having one of the most memorable trips ever. The horses at the Bitterroot are so well cared for and very good at their job of being confident and sure footed over the sometimes steep... More

My stay at Bitterroot has been one of those precious life experiences. The Fox family, the wranglers, staff, horses, dogs, llamas, ......... everyone so caring and professional. You feel completely safe while riding thanks to everyone's professionalism and the way the ranch is run.Horses are beautiful, landscape fantastic, food excellent, Fox family amazing. Bitterroot Ranch is all about the horse riding. If that is your primary focus, you will love it. If not, there is not much for you here. The horses are well-trained, lovingly cared for, and well matched to their riders. If you are an expert rider, you will especially like it here. Mel seems to give special attention to the... More

We had a perfect family vacation this summer. Each of our 3 kids, my husband and myself fell in love with Bitterroot Ranch and it's people. The family owners are a national treasure who have chosen quality staff and keep a close eye on the daily operations of everything. They raise and train wonderful horses and led us out on... More

I have so many great memories from my vacation last week at the Bitterroot! It would take way too much space to write down everything, so here is the condensed version: (1) Riding is the central focus of the ranch and it is fantastic. The horses, many of whom are bred on the ranch, are well-trained for the trail and... More

This past year I had popped out a baby, completed my Masters and was being slowly driven insane from my husband who had gone on 3 hunting trips since our son was born. I came across the Bitterroot Ranch in the book "1,000 Places to see before you die" and told my husband I was long overdue for a "mommy... More

I just returned from my 2nd trip to Bitterroot Ranch; it gets harder to leave every time! The staff and owners go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. The owners truly care about matching the appropriate horse to the rider and make sure you have several different mounts throughout the week. The horses are great; very well maintained... More
