Headed west, booked the unknown and stepped into paradise. Somewhat out of the way but well worth the extra drive. Scenery was stunningly beautiful to enjoy for the time I was there. A heaven full of stars greeted me every night. WOWSER'S. I arrived very late but the ol' note on the door of the main house said it all.... More

the scenic drive from Yellowstone through Wapiti to Cody is one of the most scenic in the United Sates. However, Wyoming is expensive for families especially. Accommodations and food are high priced and you never really know whether or not everything man made will meet your expectations. For example in Jackson Hole at an upscale restaurant the menu said "foie... More

We stayed at the Red Pole Ranch over the Thanksgiving holiday and just loved the place! Patty Jo and Don were so nice and made us feel right at home. The cabin was perfect, kitchenette with everything we needed to prepare our meals after a long day of photographing the bighorn sheep in the North Fork area. The cabin was... More

Our stay was pleasant enough. Service was good, the cottages were clean, and Mrs. Schmalz was accommodating. We had planned to return to this establishment in June of 2014. However, the follow-up package was never sent, and a racist, insulting, and nasty letter from Mr. Schmalz don't encourage us to ever go near the place again.

We booked this venue in Cody after we were closed out of Yellowstone because of the government shutdown. This was overall a good experience. There was no one there when we arrived after dark except a very nice dog that greeted us. We called the owner who said that they were out but that the door was open to our... More

We spent 5 nights on the ranch in a great cabin. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this cabin is the cleanest place I've ever stayed (including many Marriotts). Being a city girl, the quiet of staying in a place that's a little off the beaten track was great. The owner was a pleasure to work with when... More

Clean Quiet Accomodating Affordable Comfortable Well kept Ran out of superlatives. Just returned to earth after visiting the area, and staying at the Red Pole Ranch(Sept 3 thru 8). Ideally located for access to Yellowstone, Cody, and area: served our needs perfectly. IF you get "Parked Out", try the Chief Joseph/Bear Tooth circuit, as suggested by Don. Several restaurants nearby,... More

I really enjoyed my stay here and wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and we used the place as a base to stay while we explored Yellowstone. The rooms were excellent value and spotless. The place was just charming and all the people very friendly. If you want to go somewhere to... More

My partner and I were utterly delighted and totally surprised to happen upon this spot. Don't be put off by the words "motel" or "cabin", even if you have plenty of money to spend. It is more like a boutique hotel or b&b with a cabin format. Our cabin for two people was as spotless as a room in a... More

This is our third stay at the Red Pole Ranch. My wife and I come here to enjoy the community of wonderfully friendly, salt of the earth people; the abundance of God's creation and the mysteries of Yellowstone and surrounding mountains. Mind you, we live on a ranch in Texas and have a ranch in Colorado and still find this... More
