The Occidental Hotel is a step back in time. Due to its unique history it has been beautifully restored with many, many of its original museum quality furnishings. It is like living in a museum. The library on the second floor is fascinating. It would be a good place to be snowed in. We stayed in one of the funky... More

We had a romantic meal in the Virginian Dining room and went to the Occidental Saloon. Both were very charming and Old West. We expected to see Miss Kitty and. Tinkling of piano music. The food was tasty and the evening most enjoyable. Be sure to view the old memorabilia and giant mounts in the saloon.

Charming hotel until 4 AM when I felt something crawling up my arm. When I awoke, there was a bat flying around in our room. With my wife screaming, the bat continued to fly towards us. The bat then crawled under the door into the adjoining room where our son was sleeping and attacked him. I went to my car... More

I had dinner there the only evening I was in Buffalo and was I ever pleasantly surprised. The service was a bit slow, but I wasn't in any hurry and it gave me an opportunity enjoy the surroundings. My dinner was tops as was my lovely waitress.

This place is steeped in history and a wonderful place to stay in Buffalo. We were lucky enough to be there on a Thursday night for the jamming session in the bar with the local musicians, a night to remember. The rooms are decorated with antique furniture, real old world charm . The restaurant is excellent .

We stayed in the Clear Creek Suite, which is very spacious and overlooks the creek. The bed was comfortable, and we slept to the sound of the creek just outside the window. Love the history here! Also, the cowboy jam on Thursday nights is a must. We went for the first time September 2014 and are coming back September 2015.... More

We booked the least expensive of the rooms and therefore, had some inconveniences but we expected that going into it. Every room would require steps as there are no rooms on the ground floor. But, this is a one of a kind hotel in a very quaint little community and worth the inconveniences of a modern hotel.

A piece of fully restored perfection! This is one of the last great wild west hotels and saloons where some of the great characters hung their hats: Butch Cassidy and the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill, Tom Horn, the young Teddy Roosevelt... and many more. It was built in the late 19th century and almost was torn down from... More

This fascinating hotel is like a living history museum with old fashioned rooms and bath tubs. It is a journey through time to the frontier days. We stayed at "Madam's retreat " where once madams used to direct rowdy cowboys to her ladies of the night. The bar and the fine dining Virginian restaurant are great. Hotel manager Angela is... This was a charming hotel with a great old West feel. Rooms were nothing special but the decor was great and it was just fun to be there. Be sure and check out the saloon. Staff was very nice as well.
