Exactly the kind of place that you hope you will find when you travel. Unique. Clean. Great attention to detail. Restaurant and Breakfast Diner both superb. Historic hotel with great charm. Worth driving out of your way for. All thumbs up! Thank you for a great stay!!

Had a fabulous stay in the Cloud Peak Suite, loved all the antiques and historical ambience . Ample access to tea / coffee and biscuits . Receptions staff very helpful, I had a cold and lady on reception gave me vitamin c and extra tissues ! Beds extremely comfortable and huge! Warm, well appointed and a fascinating historical hotel to... More

We were disappointed with this hotel. It is very old and quaint. We stayed in the Herbert Hoover suite. I don't think anything has changed in that room since Herbert was there. The suite was laid out quite oddly. A bathroom without a sink is inbetween the sitting area (where the broken coffee pot was located) and the bedroom (where... More

We passed through Buffalo en route to Little Bighorn Battlefield and stopped there specifically to spend a night at the Occidental. Our suite, the Cottonwood, was very clean and comfortable. One touch of authenticity was the WiFi which worked as well in 2014 as it did 100 years ago. Had an enjoyable, tasty, dinner at the restaurant. Prices are reasonable... More

We stayed here on 19 September. When you stay here you feel like you are in the old west. The decor in the hotel is almost like a museum. The rooms were filled with antiques and are a bit quirky but it really makes the experience. Most importantly they were very clean. Dinner at the Virginian was good. If you... More

Many animals contributed to the decor in this hotel, particularly in the saloon. Mainly their stuffed heads. The room was roomy and well equipped. Gave up trying to figure out how to watch the TV. An interesting stop for a reasonable price. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open when we stayed, but the food in the saloon was OK and the... More

The Occidental came recommended to us by a friend who had lived in the Buffalo / Sheridan area for several years. She was dead right---outlaw history literally haunts the halls of this "living" American treasure. Before touring the hotel, we enjoyed a late-afternoon lunch in the saloon, which is equally filled with history. The food was good and the barkeep... More

Wife and I spent the night at The Occidental and loved it. I'm a western history fan, and stepping into The Occidental made me actually "feel" the history around me. Stayed in the President Hoover suite and would recommend it to everyone. Ate dinner in The Virginian, it also was great. To us, the best part of the stay was... More

After visiting Cody,WY we travelled three hours east to visit this historic hotel in Buffalo. We arrived in the rain on Thursday night when the hotel hosts the town's weekly bluegrass jam-- a gathering of guitar pickers crooning cowboy favorites. The saloon was packed and so were the parking spaces in front of the hotel. My husband waited in our... More

I have to deal with this in two phases. As we partook of accommodation at the hotel and ate in the restaurant. Hotel Great. Historic, and authentic, right down to the creaks, therein for some could come a problem. The old building, begin kept as authentic as possible does lead to somewhat of a catch 22 situation between authenticity and... More
