For those of us of a certain age, road trips meant staying at independently owned motels, each reflecting both its location and its owners' personalities. The Big Horn is one of those motels. It is not, however, for those travelers who appreciate or expect the familiarity and amenities typically found among the national chains. But if, on the other hand,... More

This motel is quaint & wonderful; excellent location = quick interesting walk to restaurants. Reasonable price; very clean room; breakfast was home baked cinnamon cake which smelled wonderful & tasted even better. Proprietor Trudy was extremely helpful with recommendations which were totally accurate. Would definitely stay here again & highly recommend it; great value for anyone passing through Buffalo---which is... More

Yes it's Trudy that makes this place along with her artwork. We were advised to go by one of the chaps ion the visitor centre who said it was a personal, family run establishment. Well it is a little tired around the edges, but the cabin was clean, had the facilities we needed and when travelling that's what you need.... More

We enjoyed our stay in Buffalo, Wy, although it was too short. We stayed at the Big Horn and it was great! It's not a big modern hotel but a quaint, comfortable and friendly motel. It met all our needs and Trudy, the owner was extremely helpful to us. We had some very important papers to fax to our insurance... More

My wife and I enjoyed GREAT western hospitality from Trudy and her staff. I can't remember when we've had such a clean room, including bedding, towels and the room in general. Trudy and her staff did everything to accommodate our stay as it included an antelope hunt. Trust me, we will be there again next year and any time we... More

Had a reservation was really looking forward to my stay. I advised ony reservation through booking.com in a bit that would be relayed to the motel that I would have a late check in around midnight and I got there at 1130pm. They closed the office. Tried to call and was advised by the message on their answering machine that... More

If this young lady was as diligent at reading the check-in times as well as she navigated the review process, she would have had a room here when she arrived. There are also 7 or so chains and 15 or so total motels in this town as an alternative to her traveling over the Bighorns with all the deer and... More

I had high hopes for this hotel from reading the positive reviews on Big Horn. Indeed, the owner was nice and commented that she had received quite a few compliments on the "firm" beds at the hotel. Unfortunately, our family would describe the beds as "hard" and the pillows were none too soft, either. The real deal-breaker, though, was the... More

We apparently are not communicating with our guests that if they need something, for example; softer pillows, reboot of the internet modem, noisy neighbors etc, all they have to do is contact the office. Preferably while they are here. I want my guests to be comfortable and happy. As far as the small bathrooms, the single queen units are in... More

Have been to Buffalo before and stayed at a chain hotel. Trust me, this place is far better value. We got a room on the end at the rear which positively gleamed and smelled fresh. Twin beds, TV, fridge, table and two chairs plus two outdoor chairs and all walking distance from the Occidental and Tom's Diner. What more can... More

Sorry, I write notes immediately, so I don't remember mujch detail about this motel, but I do remember it being a very pleasant experience. The rooms were clean with a personal touch. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. It was obvious to me that this place is a labor of love and they take a lot of pride in... More
