Stayed her early April 2014 (off season). The place was clean (recently remodeled?) and very nice. Comfy bed. Only down size were the small towels (I like ones that can wrap around me), but I would definitely stay there again... and again! George at the front desk was perfect - fit the setting and was very friendly (and funny). Considered... More

The cabins are located off the road in a small park like setting. Cars can be parked in front of the cabin. Each cabin has a bench to sit outside. Beds are excellent; we had a good quiet sleep. There is no restaurant at the site but there are various options in town. A nice change from the standard motel... More

We stayed at Z-Bar in August, on our way from National Parks to our home in the Midwest. We wanted to see the town the Longmire books are based on, and we wanted a good value and a comfortable place to stay with our dog, who loves to travel but fears strange noises. We got all three at Z-Bar. We... More

After 10 days of pricy Park lodges and generic hotel rooms, The Z-Bar Motel was a breath of fresh air! We met George after spending the day driving after a week in Yellowstone. He is a great storyteller and a real asset to the Z-Bar! He upgraded us to Cabin #26 and we fell in love with it. George had... More

I stayed in one of cabins with a kitchen for 9 days. The cabin was well equipped and the staff was always willing to help. The location was close to shopping and sight seeing but quiet and somewhat private. Great place for hunters to stay.

There were so many good reviews for this older motel we decided to give it a chance. We agree, it is a "cute" western, log cabin motel but does NOT offer the comfort of other choices on the market and it is pricey for the quality and age of the cabins---however this is typical of this area. Our log cabin... More

Our cabin was clean, fresh and comfortable! What more could you ask for? Ask George at the front desk and he'll tell you whatever you need to kow about the area. Great stay at the Z-Bar Motel. They are also biker friendly for those of you who are on their iron steeds.

My wife had stayed at the Z Bar with her late husband and loved it, so we stayed there on a recent trip to Montana. It's from a different era, as others have pointed out -- quaint, charming, and the staff was wonderful. You won't get a mini-bar, but we had a kitchen unit with all the accouterments, and it... More

A through back to the days before interstates and hotel chains. Clean, comfortable and a great value in a beautiful part of the country. Within walking distance to town. George, at the front desk, was a wealth of local knowledge and made great recommendations for dinner and breakfast. An excellent place to stay if traveling by motorcycle.

We stayed at the Bar Z on our way to Seattle, enjoyed it so much we stayed again on our way back to Illinois. A family owned business. Everyone we talked with were so nice and friendly. The cabins are so beautiful inside. All wood and bright. Very clean, with microwave oven and refrigerator. There is an IGA grocery store... More
