This was not your typical 5 star motel, but combine the cleanliness with the view, with the property gardens, the gift certificates to dine, access to Perrot State Park along with the biking and kayaking opportunities it rates a 5 star with us. This was our third peaceful stay at Inn on the River. You need to love trains as... More

My sister had seen this inn on one of her frequent road trips....so when I came to visit we stayed there. It's a small place, only about a dozen rooms, upper and lower. The room was a mix of old and new....warped patio screen door, threadbare sheets, but nice thick towels and a pedestal sink in the bathroom. The beds... More

Owner says he'll only book two night stays. We pointed out that the lot was empty and if he allowed one night he'd get paid. He let us book the single night. Wifi doesn't work here. Rooms are clean but smell old. carpet had burn holes and "drapes" were gross. No shampoo/conditioner provided in room. Decor is "homemade".

This is a lovely place to enjoy watching the trains go by (yes - day AND night) and boating (including barges) on the river. The room was clean and comfortable. A small refrigerator was included. This is not a new hotel by any means but it is clean, and maintained. No evidence of neglect or maintenance issues. The innkeeper was... More

This was our second visit to Inn on the River, this time bringing along about 15 people on a bird watching tour along the Mississippi River. We were very pleased with the accommodations, their readiness to receive us when we all arrived together as well as meeting some specific requests. Yes, the Inn is old but reasonably maintained. These building... More

This was a last minute reservation on a weekend Fall Colors watching trip. The literature in the room notes that over # 40 trains pass by every day. What they forgot to mention is that it is day and night. Train track is less than # 50 yards (approx.) from the front of the hotel. All rooms face the tracks... More

This vintage hotel nestled in the bluffs of the is like taking a step back in time. It was August and every flower was in bloom, which skyrocketed the cute factor. Trains chugged past frequently, but horns did not blow a lot right there. Barges slipped up and down the river, bicycles abounded. The hotel had coffee, ice from the... More

We did not call ahead for reservations as we did not know where we were going to end up as we drove north along the Mississippi River on the Wisconsin side. We were on our way to Perrot State Park as we passed this place and we liked how the balconies faced the river. When we came back out of... More

I decided to stay here because of the location. My boyfriend is a train enthusiast and this hotel is across the road from tracks with trains going north and south at all times of the day and night. We had a second floor room #26. It is a nice sized room with a king bed, balcony with table and chairs,... More

Just spent the Memorial Day weekend with my girlfriend at this hotel in downtown Trempealeau. The location is fantastic- directly across the street from the river on Main St.!! For a small-town motel, we LOVED IT! It's an older motel with 12 rooms but it is kept up nicely and very clean with WiFi included. The view overlooking the Mississippi... More
