Thoughtfully renovated retreat. Totally worth the drive from Minneapolis airport. Lake views, campfires, comfortable rooms, indoor and outdoor fitness options, and well-equipped meeting spaces. With excellent food and gift shop, there is no need to leave for days. Staff thinks outside the box to make your event a success.

We just finished a family stay after Christmas and I was very impressed. We had a great time. We had a deluxe room with kitchenette. It was clean, well kept, not noisy. The only thing we wish we would have had differently was a table with 4 chairs in the room, as it was hard to eat as a family... More

We visited Heartwood as part of a family getaway arranged by my in-laws. Naturally I was expecting the worse. What a pleasant surprise this was. The facilities were beautiful and well maintained. Even though it was cold and snowy outside, the main lodge was warm and cozy. There is an abundant number of wood burning fireplaces that are always kept... More

We chose the Heartwood conference center when we could not find any other reasonably priced location to rent while visiting family in the area. We stayed in one of the cottages along the lake and had a good visit. The cottages were clean and well stocked with utensils - the only problem we had was the heat - it worked... More

What a peaceful place on 700 acres with trails and lakes. If you appreciate nature, you'll like it here. Like the other reviews say, fine lodging in seclusion. We only stayed one night but I didn't want to leave. We'll be back in the winter to cross country ski the trails on the property. A very good find!

We were at Heartwood for 4 nights for the wedding of my sister-in-law. With a wedding you can end up being so busy that you aren't able to take advantage of all a place has to offer. And though this was true of many of Heartwood's amenities we were still able to enjoy so much - canoeing on the lake... More

This resort is definitely off the beaten path. The facilities are modern and very well kept. Our room was comfortable and spacious with small fridge, microwave, sink and cupboards. Was there for a business retreat with a relatively small group; it was a good seeting for focusing on stragic thinking, undistracted by the routine. There are a variety of outdoors... More

The Heartwood is at the end of a 1.5 mile dirt road, and you will drive on dirt roads while there. The drive is worth it however, when you turn the last corner, and the main lodge and conference center appear. The 700 acre property is beautiful, and the timber-frame lodges fit the setting well. Private lakes and lots of trails... More

I was recently at Heartwood for a two day conference. What a treat. Quiet, serene, friendly staff, good food. Yes, it is a bit of a drive, but beautiful scenery and worth the trip. Great nature trails and hiking. Golf not far away too.

Let me start with the good; the resort is nice, clean, the staff is VERY friendly and helpful and we had a nice time there. Here are my frustrations; first, we stayed in a lake cottage. they are cute, with 2 bedrooms and one bath. One bedroom has a full bed, the other has two twins. There is a tiny... More

Thank you for your stay at Heartwood. Our two-bedroom lakeview cottages are indeed 3/4 mile away from the Eagle Lodge on their own private drive through the woods, with quiet screen porches, fire rings and incredible views -- just steps from the scenic trail system. Many of our guests find the privacy and solitude to be exactly what they are... More
