The staff was wonderful at Barkers; friendly, extremely helpful and went out of their way to accomodate our needs! Although, not completely up-to-date, the hotel is certainly not out-of-date. The rooms and the entire hotel itself was extremely clean. The Galley Restaurant on site had great food for a great value, great service and was obviously a locals' favorite dining... more

Barker's Island Inn was a pleasant surprise. This is a nice and less expensive alternative to the Canal Park area in Duluth. While this is an older property, we found it be well maintained and exceptionally clean. Our only problem was being assigned to a room next to the entrance to the pool area which created a noise problem. Ask... more

There was not much I like about this place. It looked pretty run down, the hallways were weird (glass wall with view of pool) and the worst thing...the beds were terrible! These are the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in. I was tossing and turning all night. I ended up sleeping on the floor. The pool area was... more

This was our first stay at Barker's Island Inn. We have never experienced a more pleasurable stay anywhere else. Quiet, immaculate room, very friendly staff and the complementary breakfast saved us at least $15.00. The food was superb. Our server must have gone to HOW TO BE THE BEST SERVER SCHOOL. She was a delight. Friendly without being bothersome. I... more

Before you read any more, I will summarize: If your idea of a great hotel is that it is ancient and hasn't been remodeled since the 1970s or 1980s, you will like this hotel. If not, I would not recommend that you spend the money on this resort. My wife and I were part of a group that had reserved... more

My family and I booked two rooms at Barkers Island during Grandma's Marathon in Duluth. My husband was running and there was no way we were paying the rediculous amounts that the hotels at Canal Park were charging. We found out about this place from a friend and we were kind of hesitant with the jacked-up room rates and not... more

Our recent stay at the Barkers Island Inn ranks as one of our least enjoyable hotel stays in quite a while. When we checked in we were told that they had overbooked their non-smoking king rooms and we had been reassigned to a room with two queens. We objected and, to the staff's credit, were switched back to a king.... more

I have been staying at this hotel since it opened. It used to be a five star place with a great pool, great place to eat (even for the locals), and considered THE place to have a wedding in the area. Now...things are very different. The staff is fantastic!!!! Katie was especially helpful. The rooms on the other hand are... more

My family recently stayed at the Barkers Island Inn while touring around Duluth for a few days. We needed a place to comfortably sleep and relax at night after long days of hiking and touring. This hotel was just fine. They provided an extra bed for one of our teenagers and we had a pool-side room. We found the room... more
