I had a problem with my recent stay at the Motel 6 in Rothschild, WI. For starters, I was there at the front desk trying to check in for about half an hour, repeatedly dialing "0" for assistance from the desk phone as directed by the sign, as well as dialing the main # from my cell phone, but no answer. Finally, a man performing some type of maintenance work outside went upstairs to find a hotel staffer to check me in. Ok, I was inclined to let this pass without comment, as well as the fact that the bathroom wasn't particularly clean and the hotel's whirlpool and vending machines were out of order. All of those I could live with. The one issue I strongly object to, however, happened after I checked out. Once I was back on the road, I received a voice mail from the manager stating that my dogs, whose presence I had disclosed when initially booking the room, had allegedly soiled the towels and that he would be charging my credit card $25 for this. The dogs, as it happens, did no such thing. They never even had access to the towels. If the towels were soiled, it was definitely not with poop as the manager had accused. If there was dirt on the towels, this dirt was picked up from the motel bathroom floor. The towels became wet after we showered, and we put them on the floor as we checked out so housekeeping could pick them up. At no time did they come into contact with the dogs' bodies, much less with any poop. The dogs did their business outdoors, and any solid matter I picked up and flushed down the toilet. My dogs and my son and I have stayed in numerous Motel 6s across the US, but the Rothschild location is the only one to accuse my dogs of causing damage that they did not do, or to attempt to charge such a fee. …
