We went to Shady Rest for a weekend. We have done many weekends in different locations and for the price of this one the lodging conditions were not the value we have found elsewhere. The lake is very pretty and we enjoyed the sunsets. There are kayaks which we enjoyed to tour around the lake, two paddle boats, one of... More

In addition to having family living on Lake Manson, we decided to rent a cottage from Shady Resort to have extra space across the lake. By doing that, we were able to pontoon and kayak back and forth as weather allowed. We were fortunate to have a beautiful Labor Day weekend, high seventies, summer warmed lake water, and lots to... This was our 6th year at Shady Rest. The week is family orientated with activities in the morning ranging from soft ball to go-carting. The afternoons are filled with water skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing and tubing. We're not a big fishing family but others have had good luck catching everything from pan fish to Muskies. If the weather turns... More

We have been bringing our family to Shady Rest Lodge for 15 years. It is the best vacation we have all year. In fact, one year we took our children to Disney for Spring Break and Shady Rest in the summer and asked them what they liked best. Without hesitation they said, "Shady Rest!!" There are very few resorts in... More

Our family has vacationed at Shady Rest for 20 years now. We began going when our oldest son was 1-year-old. Over the years, as all three of our children have grown, there has been lots of fun to entertain all ages: daily activities guided by the staff, kayaking, fishing, skiing, tubing, and all kinds of beach play. We've developed close... More

Shady Rest is located on Manson Lake and it's quite pretty. The little beach is great for small kids, sandy and the water doesn't get deep too soon. Unfortunately, if you actually like to swim in the lake and you're older than 8 years, it's rather limiting. The lake is extremely weedy after 3' depth. I do like lake swimming,... More

We stayed at the Shady Rest in June/2011 and had the best time. We came with our two kids basically blindly to the resort. We found it on the Web and liked what we saw on the Web site and took a chance. So glad we did. They have a great spot on a point in a nice sized lake,... More

Our 3rd year at Shady Rest Lodge - another great week. We stayed at 3 other similar spots in years past but return to Shady Rest. Things that are really outstanding: beautiful setting with mature trees etc, great water sports in the afternoons, perfect kid beach, super nice staff. Big breakfasts and dinners always with good fresh fruit and salad... More
