Just as soon as we walked in the door, Sandy and Ken made us feel at home...and what a home it is! Listed on the National Register, it has a most colorful history which your host and hostess will be glad to tell you about. We enjoyed the Attic Suite which has a great view of the river, and we... Amazing breakfasts, served in courses. Beautiful views of the river and dam. Wonderful, friendly owners. Lovely decor. All of these made for a great stay. I confess that, as a guy, B and Bs are not my thing. However, since she likes them, we do stay in such places! This wonderful experience has almost won me over :=) We definitely... More

One of our stops on the Great River Road was Lumber Baron Inn in Onalaska. As we walked up the stairs to the inn we were impressed by this beautiful home. And when we walked in and met Sandy and Ken we continued to be impressed. The home is filled with beautiful furniture and Victorian antiques. Our room was in... More

Bill and I stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the hospitality of Sandy and Ken. They make you feel like you are the best and only guests they ever had. So casual and comfortable, yet elegant and special are the accommodations. We stayed on the third floor with a great view and a lovely room. I am sure we... More

WE have stayed at the Lumber Baron Inn twice when biking in the area. It is a great place to stay, Great views from the attic room of Lake Onalaska. Breakfasts are amazing. Innkeepers are so welcoming they make you feel right at home.

We felt like royalty here! It has been beautifully restored, the room was spacious and very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and Ken and Sandy were very welcoming and kind. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotels were booked, we gambled & lost...no wait, we WON! We were fortunate to find a room available at the Lumber Baron Inn & we're sold on B&B's now. We paid the same price as we would have paid for a much more slept-in, much less maintained room. Our room was very clean & comfortable & we were spared from... More

We stayed at the inn last week and are very happy that we did ! The house is beautiful .. bright, clean, thoughtfully composed with antiques, and situated on a beautiful piece of land overlooking the Mississippi. Ken and Sandy are super nice, very down-to-earth, and fun to chat with. Lots of extras like candy, snacks, and beverages. Both halves... More

We stayed here for a weekend getaway in October 2011. The room was very comfortable and the inn is charming. The breakfasts were just amazing. The owners had several suggestions for dinner and were very friendly. There were so many little touches: cookies in the evening before bed, billiards table downstairs, magazines, bathrobes, and a refrigerator with soda. It has... More
