Rolled into town late on Wednesday night 11:30pm, still an hour to travel for work in the am. Thought I had a reservation down the steet at the Cranberry, but it was made for a different night, my error. The Great Northern got me in right away. The front desk staff was courteous, I saw no other guests. Nothing fancy,... More

The rooms are average, which is fine and what we paid for. They were clean and the facility has great parking for trailers, plus the motel is right on one of the main trails for snowmobiling. The problem lies with the unprofessional staff in the bar. When we were there the bar was pretty busy, it was alarming how the... More

Hotel was fine. However, the bar staff was rude. Not only rude, but Saturday night we went to participate in karaoke. My son tried to request a song. The lady running the karaoke screamed and belittled him on the microphone because he didn't request a song by number. The karaoke lady was drunk, yelling for people to buy her shots... More

I have never stayed in the motel but we stop every time we pass by on our snowmobiles. Mercer is a great place to ride but we all have to rest at some point. This is always a destination for our group. Bar is always accommodating, the bar tenders are always friendly and happy to serve us. The bar has... More

This is a fun place. New owners are doing it right keeping it rustic while upgrading. We had fun and loved the big rooms, fun room names and setting. And we were in the unfinished potion. Lovely great room for entertaining with a terrific view of the lake. Attached restaurant was very good. On top of that the restaurant owner... More

Stayed there while snowmobiling. Rooms very spacious. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They welcomed my big dog. Was located right on the trail which was nice. Large parking lot considering all the truck and trailers that were there (all rooms booked). the only down size was no refrigerator or microwave in rooms, but could go to lounge and use... More

*Years* ago -- and I mean at least a decade -- my mother and I discovered this shangrila in the wilderness, and had a blissful experience. There was an enormous pool, they welcomed my big dog, there was taxidermy displayed all over the walls like a true woodlands hideaway, and they invited us to bring in groceries and cook our... More

My Uncle had his wedding at The Great Northern Motel. 10/4/14 was the date of the wedding. The rooms were great, food was excellent and staff was accommodating. Will definitely return for another stay.

The new management is doing a great job with the hotel. Rooms are very clean, our room had a new flat screen TV, and many other new updates. Great food in the bar and everyone is very friendly! Excellent location on the snowmobile trail and large parking lot. We will be back this Summer to enjoy the lake.
