We stayed at Hotel Punta Islita for the last half of our honeymoon. It was probably the destination I was looking forward to the most, but it turned out to be a complete letdown. On the pro side, the location is beautiful and it is secluded. The guest rooms were fine, but not what you would expect for the price.... More

I was sincerely disappointed to learn that we did not fulfill your expectations. We aim to showcase the best of Costa Rica's hospitality through top-notch services and facilities and certainly pay attention when we run short of this goal. 1492 Restaurant's renovation in June of last year extended beyond schedule, unfortunately coinciding with your honeymoon. I am glad to learn... More

we had a two bedroom villa with a private pool, it was agreat place to hang out for 9 days. The place is remote but there are great activities eg. turtle watching, tennis, kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining, surfing, golf, deep sea fishing, spas, great food and a well stocked bar. The wines are expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to review Hotel Punta Islita. Glad to hear that you enjoyed your nine-day stay. Certainly sounds like you had a chance to fully enjoy our many eco-adventures! We are currently expanding our wine menu to include more options and price diversity. Thanks for the observation! Saludos. More

great position, beautiful infinity pool, truly (not faked) nature-oriented resort, we saw lots of animals in the resort itself, truly outstanding service quality especially at the restaurant but not only - we spent a fantastic week and will consider to go back at some point in time

First, Punta Islita is definitely difficult to get to - but therein lies the appeal! The resort is completely, delightfully isolated. You're in the middle of a breathtaking jungle, steps from a uniquely gorgeous black sand beach. And the travel was seamless - we had the hotel pick us up at the San Jose airport for a fee, & our... My wife and I just returned (pre-Christmas 2010) from 9 days of pure bliss at Hotel Punta Islita. Unlike others, we drove from Liberia Airport to the hotel (and saved about $150 per person each way in airfares). Instead, we rented a 4x4 SUV and enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour trek through the Guancaste countryside. The route is much easier... More

I was somewhat ambivalent about planning a vacation to Costa Rica because I had heard it is now overrun with tourists. We did not experience this at all having chosen to stay at Punta Islita and its sister resort, El Silencio, since both hotels are pretty isolated. While you have to work to get to both places, we found it... More

My clients were in awe the minute they stepped on the property of Punta Islita. Anything we asked for, the staff made it happen. I did not have one bad experience here. This hotel is just amazing from the rooms, food, spa, beach and golf course. My client and their guests had a blast and told me they have never... More

What a fantastic hotel! We went here on honeymoon and cannot fault it. The staff were wonderful - very friendly, fantastically helpful and attentive. The tour around the local village was very interesting as well. The facilities in the hotel are second to none - the infinity pool and wet bar have the most amazing view and the rooms are... More

A beautiful setting but quite hard to get to- flights only leave during certain seasons, and driving there is a many-houred journey. The service was great, but don't expect relaxation: the second you get there they will hand you a schedule of eco-activities, which if you don't want to be scheduled, can be stressful! Also, it is such a humid... More
