We spontaneously booked this trip in mid-march (14th) and were delighted with the wonderful surprise. I would echo the past reviews in saying that the staff, grounds and food are all great and it would be a teriffic introduction to Costa Rica, particularly if it is your first visit to the country (different but not too different). You will definitely... More

In a secluded cove, you'll find this gorgeous, small resort a great escape. A quick flight on Nature Air (I didn't find it scary in the least) gets you to this luxury set of casitas on a hillside overlooking a cove in the Pacific. The waves are gentle enough to relax in, yet kick up enough to surf in...while the... More

Hotel Punta Islita is a fabulous, unique and special place that is hard to describe. We had a fantastic vacation, a trip like no other we have experienced. My husband and I traveled with 5 kids (ages 10, 12, 13, 15 & 16). We flew in on a private charter from San Jose on March 21st and flew out on... More

Great attention to detail. Beautiful setting. View from restaurant and pool on top was breathtaking. Staff was sincere and very friendly. Food was incredible - s nothing fancy - but everything was so fresh. If you want cheaper food - the restaurant two blocks away is good and much cheaper than the hotel. Walking around resort was good exercise. If... More

I booked this hotel for our trip after looking at many others. For the price, it was a better value and definitely felt more luxurious than the new Marriott in Guanacaste and Tabacon Hot Springs. My husband is vegetarian and the staff was always very accomodating, and made us whatever we wanted to eat (with the ingredients that they had).... More

On our month long trip in Central America, this hotel was suffering more than most from lack of visitors (credit crunch?), not helped by the fact that Sansa Air cancelled flights to Punta Islita. The staff were very friendly & helpful and the hotel has much to recommend it - we had a de luxe room just below the upper... More

What a GEM! I cant believe some of the reviews some have on here, what a joke! You are silly not to like this place. We are very seasoned travelers, we have been to MANY places and experianced many things. This hotel is at the top! Yes, it takes awhile to get there. But its so worth the drive through... More

After spending 4 rain soaked nights at Arenal where we stayed at the Tabacon Resort, my wife and I were looking forward to finally enjoying some sun. We flew into the Punta Islita airport where the hotel shuttle picks up all guests. We stayed 3 nights here and enjoyed every moment. Punta Islita Hotel is really in the middle of... More

The beach is pretty nice but it really takes forever to get there. The place is ok, the casitas with private pool are very nice. But the bed was sooo uncomfortable! It had like a hole in the middle and my boyfriend could barely get some rest. The food was also very limited, the menu had like only three options... More

This year was our third year annual stay at Punta Islita. We stay at Villa Mariposa which is a three bedroom house on the grounds of the resort but set away from the main area. The resort gives you a golf cart to get around so you are not stuck with a long walk back to the villa. We found... More
