We stayed there on the weekend of April 5-7 2013. We loved the place. If you're looking for glam and ritz this isn't the place. If you're looking for a really cool old northwoods lodge, with a ton of history and nostalgia this is the place for you. Everything was exceptionally clean and well cared for. In the dining room... My family lives in the Northwoods of Minnesota but this 'Northwoods of Wisconsin and the U.P. of Michigan' was wonderful. We plan on visiting again next year and the Gateway is the place to visit and stay at. We wish we had more time to take in the area, but two days weren't near enough. The lodge is old, the... More

This is a charming, if not dated lodge in the Northlands. They are keeping a firm upper lip, but the rooms are getting old. They even suggest to purchase a room as a condo for $32,000. The furniture is showing age, the bathrooms are about 1950, and the kitchenette with their metal cabinets are about the same age. Great grounds... More

We stayed there 3 times in the last 3 years thinking it would get better. Well it gets worst everytime. We where in the lobby with our family and myself being a business owner was shocked on the way management handled the employee's. This happened two different times when we where there. The heavy set manager (Sandy) tied into 2... More

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay here. Anytime we have issues with our pool we close it down so that it is not used. I wish that as a guest if you had problems or concerns you would have addressed them at the time so that they could have been taken care of immediately. More

We stay here a couple days a summer with family who own there. This is a rustic northwoods lodge feel place with nice clean rooms and a really friendly staff. The pool is clean and the new management in the restaurant has made a great difference. My only complaint would be better wifi. You have to go to the lobby... More

Stayed here while in the area for a wedding. Upon entering the lobby I was very excited. A real northwoods resort, the kind I remember from my childhood when traveling with my parents and stopping for a meal here there and everywhere. Aside from the lobby and the bar/restaurant, there rest of the facility demands updating. Poor wireless coverage (could... More

We had a few days for a getaway this spring and seen on Discover Wisconsin this lodge. Their rates was 50% off so we stayed 2 days in April. The lodge was old and done in the traditional log cabin look. Also , their lobby was filled with mounted heads and a large fireplace. The people where real friendly and... More

My family has been going to the Gateway for over 30 years, which means I have been there atleast 20 times. It has the most amazing lobby with hands down the best fire place I have ever seen. You can literally walk into it. Grab a book a beer and enjoy conversation around the fire place. The bar is perfect,... More

We stayed here last summer and enjoyed our getaway immensly. Located just miles from the Headwaters of the Wisconsin River, Eagle River, and Bond Falls, the Gateway Lodge was great home-base for a few days. When we checked in, it was like stepping back into the grand old times of the Northwoods. Our front desk clerk (can't remember her name)... More

Stayed at the Gateway Lodge for three nights in December. A beautiful, historic, northwoods lodge about 20 miles north of Eagle River. My wife and I had a very nice time and enjoyed our stay. Lodge has a big lobby with huge fireplace, comfortable, over-sized furniture, and wii-fi. Dark wood, mounted animal heads, and a nice, free continental breakfast. Rooms... More
