When we first pulled up, I was worried about what this place was going to be like. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. When they handed us the keys (Real Keys) I started to get a little worried again. We drove around to the entrance for the room and went inside. It was like taking a step... More

It's a great getaway, we'll be back. It is not for the snooty though. Yes, there are "mounted deer heads" everywhere, as I read in someone else's review. You're in the north, there are going to be dead animals. LOL. Because of the metal roof and the location, the cell service and internet are not great, but, remember: GETAWAY. Trap... More

I was a bit worried by all of the reviews. Yes this place is older and has mounts all over but once you get past it, not so bad. It's not the Ritz but an average good, CLEAN hotel. Our room wasn't fully updated, but nothing to scream about. The great room is a neat place to gather by the... More

The Gateway Lodge is the kind of place you stay in solely to write a TripAdvisor review. There is a collection of mounted deer heads right above the entrance, a moose and a bison on the opposite wall, a lynx above the continental breakfast bar, and several other smaller mammals tucked into other areas of the lobby. Oh, and there’s... More

According to a previous review, I guess we got one of the misses when we stayed in a suite. The bed was awful and we slept very poorly. The place has charm and lots of potential. The front lodge room has a huge fireplace, chairs, small tables for playing cards, and sofas. The pool is in a separate building and... More

I love places like this very rustic and a real classic lodge feeling the logs and the overall atmosphere. Very friendly staff and interesting history I will stay again when I am in town. If you are looking for non traditional hotel motel experience this place is a definite. I stayed in the smallest room which was a studio and... More

Built in 1938, this is a perfect hotel for it's location in the small town of Land O Lakes in northern WI. Rooms are all different. We had 117-large with a king bed, sleep sofa and large kitchenette. Tiny, but adequate, bathroom. Old and dated decor but very clean. Only complaint was the tiny old TV hung high on the... More

Have stayed here at least a half a dozen times during the past couple years. It is a great snowmobile friendly place to stay. The rooms can be hit and miss, quite a few are condos owned by others that are rented out. Some of the rooms we have stayed in are decorated nicely, have nice TVs, comfy beds and... More

We stayed here with group of co-worker's families. The room we got was a suite. It felt like log cabin but with modern appliances. It had a king bed and pull out sofa bed. It had a single portable stove top, microwave oven and refrigerator. It also has a small A/C which is good for cool down the room. The... More

Big plusses: large indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, great restaurant on site, gun club rental, museum-like lobby worth stopping to view stuffed bears, historic lodge including old photo history on hall behind lobby, rooms with kitchenette & bed variations available, price low; could be asking a lot more if remodeled/refreshed. Small breakfast included. Minuses: hallways dark & confusing; would help... More
