According to a previous review, I guess we got one of the misses when we stayed in a suite. The bed was awful and we slept very poorly. The place has charm and lots of potential. The front lodge room has a huge fireplace, chairs, small tables for playing cards, and sofas. The pool is in a separate building and... More

I love places like this very rustic and a real classic lodge feeling the logs and the overall atmosphere. Very friendly staff and interesting history I will stay again when I am in town. If you are looking for non traditional hotel motel experience this place is a definite. I stayed in the smallest room which was a studio and... More

Built in 1938, this is a perfect hotel for it's location in the small town of Land O Lakes in northern WI. Rooms are all different. We had 117-large with a king bed, sleep sofa and large kitchenette. Tiny, but adequate, bathroom. Old and dated decor but very clean. Only complaint was the tiny old TV hung high on the... More

Have stayed here at least a half a dozen times during the past couple years. It is a great snowmobile friendly place to stay. The rooms can be hit and miss, quite a few are condos owned by others that are rented out. Some of the rooms we have stayed in are decorated nicely, have nice TVs, comfy beds and... More

We stayed here with group of co-worker's families. The room we got was a suite. It felt like log cabin but with modern appliances. It had a king bed and pull out sofa bed. It had a single portable stove top, microwave oven and refrigerator. It also has a small A/C which is good for cool down the room. The... More

Big plusses: large indoor pool, sauna, hot tub, great restaurant on site, gun club rental, museum-like lobby worth stopping to view stuffed bears, historic lodge including old photo history on hall behind lobby, rooms with kitchenette & bed variations available, price low; could be asking a lot more if remodeled/refreshed. Small breakfast included. Minuses: hallways dark & confusing; would help... More

the gateway is set in Land o Lakes Wisconsin...snowmobilers and hunters/fisherman probably find it as paradise...they have time share type suites so there are folks other than service people to clean. let me be fair in acknowledging that they had a big party of people staying and I switched my dates. My first room was ok ... no coffee but... More

We are enjoying our stay at the historic Gateway. Room 217 is an updated studio with Kitchenette, dining table, Comfy Queen size Bed, Queen pull-out sofa bed, 8 drawer dresser and bedside table with lamp. A ceiling fan with light sits above the bed. The Bathroom has a fan, built-in space heater, full size tub and a standard single sink/cabinet... More

My husband and stayed at The Gateway and had mixed reviews. We traveled with friends to this property. The lodge has some cool history and a HUGE fireplace in the lobby. I understand that each room is different due to being owned by different people. Our room was dark, dreary and hadn't been updated in a VERY long time, if... More

The main lobby at this hotel is very cozy with a huge fireplace and many seating areas. There are taxidermy animals all around which is common in the Northwoods. Our room was a 2 room suite. There was a pull-out sofa in the main living room along with a table and chairs. The kitchen nook was fully stocked with dishes,... More
