State park camping has always been our favorite choice. This park is higher on my list of rankings because of the many options for activities within the park. Great bike trails, hiking trails, swimming, fishing, boating, golf, tennis, sightseeing, snacks, etc... We spent the first 1 1/2 days just in the park and returned twice after we had eft to... More

We stayed in a tent and we were very pleased with our stay. The campground was very quiet and overall very clean. The bathroom facilities were acceptable for being at a campground and actually had hot showers! We stayed in the Tennison Bay grounds and were near a kayak canoe launch. I would suggest buying firewood in town before entering... More

We stayed here 2 nights in tents. As soon as we pulled into the park, the views were amazing. The staff at the check-in station were very friendly and informative as this was my first time at the park. As we setup camp on the Welckers Sites, we quickly had to find our OFF and turn on our Therma-Cells to... More

Camped in 33 ft. 5th wheel. Roomy, level sites with fire ring, picnic table and nice tent pad. Didn't use showers so can't review....rangers were helpful and accommodating on a busy afternoon. Let us switch our reservation to another site after explaining we could not use generator at nonelectric sites (the case with all Wi. state campgrounds we learned). Beautiful... More

We stayed here 2 nights in our 32' motorhome in July. The biking, hiking and scenery were amazing! However, the swimming "beach" was crowded and just didn't seem clean. We were relieved to have our own facilities as the public showers and toilets were pretty disgusting. We stayed at the Tennyson Bay camp. If we go again we would stay... More

We are car campers for the most part. We were camping at Peninsula State Park last year (South Nicolet Bay) and it has ruined camping for us anywhere else! It is just beautiful! The site is a bit small, and we were close to our neighbors. There is a quiet noise policy which can be hard. (The year before we... More

Lots of poison ivy and dirt at the campsites, so either you get full of dirt or you wander out of the tent area and risk getting into poison ivy. We had a quiet site at North Nicolet that we reserved in advance. Water is across the street at a pump. Toilets were at the boat dock and had no... More

Ok, it is a beautiful place, and there are a lot of things to do during the day in the park and surrounding area...but that is about all I can say good about this place. Unfortunately, the ownership seems to have decided to change things up, and is now taking a very rigid stance in enforcing stupid rules. If you... More

Our favorite place to camp is Franklin Lake, at Nicolet National forest (gorgeous, huge, private sites, many right on the lake), but it's quite rustic (pit toilets, no showers) and a bit isolated. For a recent trip, I decided to take my daughter and her teenage friends to Peninsula State Park (which is also two hours closer to home). We... More
