My husband and I chose the Trollhaugen after browsing potential lodging accommodations online. The Trollaugen was $100 less than most others. We had a great time during our stay. We paid $135 for a 2nd floor room in the lodge. While it is true the hotel is older, we found our room to be very clean. The owner made us... More

We spent the night in the log cabin. The cabin was clean and neat. The decor was a little confusing jumble of Alaskan, Scandinavian, Asian and northwoods. The sheets did not stay in place on the bed although the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good but nothing special. A skillet of eggs, peppers and potatoes. Fresh fruit and pastries... More

The Trollhaugen Lodge changed ownership recently. . .the new owners (two school teachers from California) are doing their best to slowly make improvements as time and money permits. This is not a five star hotel. . .however it is one of the less expensive places to stay in Door County. I believe that all the mattresses have been replaced and... More

ThIs place has a variety of accommodations that most places cannot offer. One place: A bed & breakfast, a small motel, and a stand-alone log cabin. By our choice we stayed in the log cabin, which I understood to be the original building on the property. It's built on the hillside, roughly 150 years old and renovated within the past... More

I don't normally like to post a bad review but I feel obligated to let others know that they should at the very least wait until improvements are made to this property before considering renting a King room in the Motel of this property. Generally we are not picky about our accommodations and require only a clean and comfortable room... More

We had a great stay at the Trollhaugen Lodge. We stayed in the B & B part of the facility. It was very clean albeit a bit smallish. However, it met our requirements perfectly. The breakfast provided was amazing. The owners are from Southern California and made Mexican Chilequiles for us. The property is conveniently located and has ample parking... More

We just spent two wonderful nights at the Trollhaugen. The room was clean as a whistle and had everything we needed. The morning blueberry muffins were a nice touch! And Javier (the new owner) was so gracious and accommodating. We are only sorry we missed the opportunity to meet his wife, Maria. The location is picturesque and is right next... More

Great stay at Trollhaugen. It has one of the cheapest rates in door county and you get exactly what you'd expect. We stayed in a motel room. They're working on a lot but it was very pretty friend (they even had bags for dog poo) but it was exactly what I expected for the price and the staff were very... More

I cannot believe the other reviews this place got. It is a total dump. The bed was as hard as the floor. The linens were threadbare and the quilt was at least older than the hotel. The television was more than 20 years old. The drapes were synthetic plastic that were fashionable in the 50's plus they were not even hung... More

We are sorry to hear about the bad experience these guests may have had. We are new owners here at the Trollhaugen Lodge and realize that the place needs improvement. We have already placed new mattresses in half of the motel rooms and plan to do so in the rest by the end of August. These improvements will be on... More

At cute little B&B's it's always the owners that make or break your stay. I can tell you Maria and Javier were accommodating, friendly, personable, and fantastic cooks. Once they found out we liked tamales they made them special for us each morning and even sent us home with some. Their home made salsas were amazing. The accommodations are fine,... More
