My husband and I live in Chicago, and love to get away for a weekend when we can. We visited the Osthoff this past weekend. After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit apprehensive, but went with an open mind. We are glad we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As we arrived, we found the front desk... more

This was our 4th trip to the Osthoff and we were expecting our usual nice accomodations including very nice beds. I don't know if they changed their mattresses, but everyone in our family did not like their bed. They were rock hard. Have they ever heard of a memory foam topper? We fought over sleeping on the pull out couch... more

Thought I’d post a quick reply regarding updates to The Osthoff - I’m the GM here at the resort. We were sorry to hear this guest did not find the mattresses to their liking. Over the last two years we’ve updated all the mattresses in the original two wings of the resort. The third wing, our newest, was built just...

My son's wedding was at the Ostoff and the whole weekend was perfect! I'm anxiously waiting for an opportunity to go back. The rooms were good-sized, comfortable and clean. Loved the convenience of being able to cook in our room (kitchen was stocked with everything we needed). The staff was helpful and friendly. Took advantage of the salon--very professional--was great not... more

This past June I worked with The Osthoff to set up a Leadership Conference for my employer. There were 25 employees (including myself) who stayed at the resort for three days. The Sales Manager, Event Coordinator, and Audio Visual staff were extremely helpful leading up to the event and made themselves readily available during the conference. Kitchen staff accommodated last... more

Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a business retreat with 15 people. We've done over 20 annual retreats. Several attendees said this was the best location yet. Beautiful lake. Gorgeous views. Rooms were luxurious and clean. Liked the historical atmosphere. Had some great meals. No worries, the hotel took care of everything we needed. more

We stayed here in June 2009 for the "June Sprints" at Road America. The hotel did not live up to any of our expectations. We paid $220/night for a room (239) in the original hotel building. The room was incredibly old, dirty and dingy. The bathroom was horrible and towels and linens were threadbare. Our room advertised a deck and... more

This was our second trip to the Osthoff in about 6 months. It's a great place and really beautiful location....but staff in both the hotel and the spa could really use some customer service training. When ordering room service, the kitchen staff called our room no less then 3 times to get the order straight. This wasn't a complex order......appetizers... more

Every April I usually go to Palm Springs for a long spa weekend with girlfriends. That didn't work out this year, so I decided to go somewhere close to home and chose the Ostoff after much research. The shorter drive time and lower cost won me over from the American Club in nearby Kohler, Wi, and Sundara Spa in Wisconsin... more

I am a huge fan of the Osthoff. Our extended family has been meeting at the Osthoff for Easter every year since it opened (14 years in a row now). We keep coming back because of the layout of the 2-3 bedroom suites. The open kitchen and living room allows everyone to relax and visit. The pool and whirlpool are... more

I am upset because a supposed trained aethestician burned my underarm and forearm with boiling hot wax, use of cheap wax paper instead of muslin clothes, and her obvious inexperience. I have been getting various areas on my body waxed for over 10 years, and have never had this happen. She denied that the wax was too hot set on... more

I 'm the manager of The Osthoff Resort and have always valued the guest messages posted on TripAdvisor. These posts give us a golden opportunity to do "organic" research as to what guests enjoy and where we might consider improvements. I've noticed a number of messages regarding check-out and wanted to reassure visitors that we've tracked down the problem with...
