We had to buy some Febreze because the room's smell was unbearable. The entire rom needs serious updating. We knew the restaurant was gone, too bad. The pots to use in the very dated kitchen were almost unusable. The bathroom was out of 1960!! The shower was dark and water pressure had much to desire. Clean, nice view from our... More

We used to own property nearby and, while dining there often, we never stayed there - until recently. We stayed at the cottage but were disappointed on several fronts. First, the bath room is in serious need of updating. While the plumbing works, it's way past its prime. The shower water controls are downright finicky and getting a decent temperature... More

Second visit here was not much better than the first.Room #3 had a shower head that was so clogged the water only trickled out. Room #2 had a bad kitchen faucet, the water sprayed every which way when turned on and the bathroom mirror had black spots all over it. At first glance the rooms appear neat and clean but... More

We've been going to the Crivitz area for 40 years and have stopped by many times. It was more difficult when our kids were young because of the wait to eat. As others have mentioned, you go to the bar area, then order your chicken and then wait to be called. If you are not there when it's slow your... More

Shaffer's is celebrating their 75th anniversary and the chicken is still the best. This is an old school supper club where you order in the bar and are seated just before your dinner is ready. Dinner includes a relish tray, rolls, and dessert. The star is the deep fried chicken. Crispy golden skin, moist chicken....just delicious! And try the coleslaw.... More

We have been going to Shaffers's for years (in excess of 50). I decided to take my mother there for their famous chicken for mother's day. Wow, we were in luck, got there about 2pm and only moderate people waiting the bar room. We however were in for a surprise. Dispite the moderate crowd, we were treated to a 2... More

My brother's family raves about Shaffer's, so I was looking forward to staying there. There are two motel buildings; the east side (closer to the pool) is the newer of the two, & has bigger showers. Dad & I were on the west side. The room was clean, but age & spotty maintenance were evident. The a.c. was old &... More

We recently stayed at shaffers for a kind of family reunion getaway. Our family has been coming up to that area for over 60 years and have dined at shaffers every time. After a death in the family our times coming up have dropped considerably. Three families decided to come up to shaffers for the weekend. Upon arriving it brought... More

We did a mid week 2 night stay. Entering the room there was an odor, probably from older carpeting, although it was clean and in great shape, but overall when we walked in and saw our room we were pretty impressed. Large living area with a rocker, sofa sleeper, double bed, dining table and a very nice kitchenette. Off the... More
