Whether the official verdict from hotel rating companies is five star will mean nothing to us or guests who frequent this establishment. It is very well managed and just a delight to occupy. I love to stay places where I see the owners working at the hotel each day. The rooms are just beautiful and so nicely maintained we could... More

Go for the food! It is comparable to a five star restaurant. Location was convenient for is as we live in the Twin Cities. But I wouldn't say it would be worth a long drive or a plane ride. Accommodations were comfortable and rustic but soothing. So many mosquitoes and ticks that we couldn't enjoy the outdoors!

My husband and I spent a beautiful weekend here over the Fourth of July. It was truly a wonderful experience and we left feeling rested and revitalized. Below I have detailed the elements of our weekend including opinions on value for different pieces, what's worth the splurge, etc. This review is long- feel free to skip around to the sections... My husband and I spent a weekend in the beautiful "Heavenly Suite" directly on the lake. We sat on the wrap around deck and watched a family of deer roam within feet of our room. While in our suite and outside on the deck it felt like we were the only people there. Only at the delicious dinner did we... More

My husband and I enjoyed a two night stay in the Dream Cabin. We enjoyed hiking around the beautiful grounds, taking a canoe out onto the lake, and looked forward to an amazing dinner at the Lodge each night. The food was amazing and we highly recommend the room service breakfast, as well! Canoe Bay is worth every penny.

We loved the quiet and solitude of this resort. It is such a great place to reconnect. The food was wonderful. The service also outstanding. The staff seemed very willing to personalize our experience to our needs. Chetek doesn't have a lot to offer, but was fun for a little afternoon walk. We will be back.

We arrived for Memorial Day Weekend to a great surprise. We had reserved a dream cottage and were upgraded to the Architectural Rattenbury Cottage! This is truly a beautiful cabin secluded at the end of the lane. Our deck looked out over the lake from a large picture window and the sunrise was gorgeous! No detail was missed, from the... More

Just had a relaxing and fun weekend at Canoe Bay. The food in the the Inn was very good and the resort was very upscale. The staff was as good as it gets. Everyone was friendly and professional. We will definitely be back !!!!!

We absolutely loved our stay! The food was fabulous and the staff really attended to our dietary requirements. No request (within reason of course--smile) seemed to be absurd. The view from our Treetop Cottage was magnificent and simply divine. The rooms were exactly as pictured and even exceeded my expectations--from the heated floors, steam device in the shower to breakfast... More

Canoe Bay is truly a distinct experience, and a superb getaway. They created a sophisticated resort and restaurant deep in the north woods. Absolutely everything about the physical experience is unique and excellent - Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architecture, incredible craftsmanship, natural setting, and attention to detail in all aspects of management. Service is attentive, polite, and highly professional. Food... More
