I've been reading other people's reviews, and it seems like they didn't read the website before they visited. This place is completely secluded. It takes about 15 minutes to get to town, and there's not much to do once you're there. If you stay here, stay to experience quiet, nature, and enjoy your travel companion(s). We stayed in a room... We recently stayed at Canoe Bay for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay and I gave it five stars but I would suggest to anyone considering a stay, to do your research. Knowing a few things from Trip Advisor helped us enjoy our visit. But I can see some people being a little disappointed. The property is beautiful and the... More

One of the most romantic, beautiful places I have ever been. Peaceful and discreetly private. l can't imagine a more incredible place to be proposed to!!! Every single detail has been so carefully and beautifully thought through. I didn't know places like this really existed. We would go back in a heartbeat. Even the food served in the restaurant was... More

My three star rating is really an average of five stars and 1 star. First the good things. The setting is beautiful! The quality of the rooms -- they are almost all individual cabins -- is exceptional. You have a feeling of what I call "splendid isolation." That is you have the feeling you are the only ones there. And... More

I am so pleased you enjoyed the property and its peaceful, remote setting. Your positive observations are appreciated, as well as the areas you’ve noted where there is opportunity to improve. Our goal is always to provide accurate and complete answers in a timely and friendly way. In this case, your e-mail concerning a hamburger request simply was not delivered... More

We were looking for a quiet weekend away from our great kids, and we found it at Canoe Bay! This is a Midwest jewel! From Kansas City, it was an easy flight to Minneapolis and 2 hr drive to paradise in the middle of nowhere! Don't plan on staying connected to your device for phone or internet...this is GETTING AWAY!... More

If you're looking for rustic luxury in the heart of the woods, this place is for you. It's beautiful, quiet, peaceful and lovely. The "Lakeside" cabin we stayed in was beautiful, clean and had an amazing view. Dinner, although pricey, was delicious. It's all homemade and the atmosphere is lovely. In my mind, there are a few fallbacks, it's nice... More

My wife and I have been coming to Canoe Bay whenever we are in the Midwest. This is just about the most romantic, and relaxing getaway we know. The rooms are deluxe, the trails and outdoor spaces are fresh and inviting, and Lake Wahdoon, the centerpiece of the property is beautiful. We love the dining room, and can't wait to... More

This past weekend, my husband and I spent two wonderful, decadent nights at Canoe Bay. This was our fourth time to this gem of a place in the midwest. As soon as you pull on to the long wooded driveway of the property, you can feel your stress being left behind. Dan and Lisa have created something very special for... More

My life has been enriched beyond compare by our visit to Canoe Bay. We wisely picked a room in the Lodge, so we had access to an entire library of interesting books to read during our quiet stay. The earth was beginning to come alive again, and the spring peepers (frogs) were so loud every night it made me smile.... More

Going north for the winter might have seemed counter-intuitive - however, with Canoe Bay we were not only vindicated, but also were able to make beautiful anniversary memories. The property has taken complete advantage of their remote location and wooded surroundings to come up with a remarkably idyllic layout. The silent snow all around made it perfect for snowshoeing (they... More
