From the moment you walk in a see the dated service desk and chandelier, you can tell that the hotel is very proud of both its heritage and its history. The rooms are color matched with the hallways and named after famous people who have stayed there. I did not like the fact they did not have enough natural lighting,... More

We stayed there with our families for the 15th annual Hatfield - MCoy marathons. The hotel is beautiful as well as comfortable. The staff very helpful, going out of the way to accommodate guests. Edna and staff keep the place shiny and clean as well as comfortable. If you had a bad experience, you didn't try to enjoy the place.... More

Stayed here on one of our motorcycle adventures. Hotel has great character and is located right downtown. We walked to dinner, breakfast and to a couple local tourist sites. Located in the heart of Hatfield & McCoy country. The hotel at the time of our stay did not have a restaurant or bar.

My experience at this hotel was very pleasurable. The hotel looks very nice and has a very vintage feel to it. The rooms were nicely furnished and the location of the hotel made the surrounding areas easily accessible. I also like the concept of the hotel rooms being named after celebrities.

This hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. It provides its user with a historical atmosphere. Each room within this hotel has a name in a picture frame next to the door that displays a famous person. It simply displays the person’s name and what their primary occupation was when they were alive. The hotel also has elevators that are over... More

I stayed in the William Henderson room and I found it really unique that they had famous people who had stayed in each room and had them posted outside the door. When you first walk in you're sort of taken aback by how gorgeous it is. It's very classic looking, but beautiful. The rooms aren't 5* hotel quality, but with... More

The room is huge. I love how they name the room after famous people. I don't like the bathroom very much. No bathtub. The shower look out-dated and the vent is pretty noisy. I think they'd better replace their towels with white new towel. The receptionist is nice and very helpful. the lobby looks very fancy with a lot of... More

Staying in the Mountaineer Hotel was a great choice! The interior of the lobby and the rooms were put together very well. The lobby had a old-timey movie-like feeling with its chandeliers, booths, table cloths, high ceilings...and the rooms were nice as well with great showers, a tv, two beds, a vanity desk, and a small fridge. The hotel was... More

The Mountaineer Hotel was so quaint!! There were huge chandeliers that were breathtakingly beautiful when lit. My one complaint was that the WiFi was disappointing!! I could not get proper WiFi service in my room where I needed it the most. I could only get WiFi in the lobby area and that was frustrating. The receptionist’s attitude was the true... More

Mountaineer Hotel has an interesting character. The lobby, with its chandeliers, high ceiling, and antique-looking furniture, has a vintage hotel ambiance that is curiously complimented by gentle bluegrass music playing in the background. The rooms themselves are named after famous historical figures – I stayed in the J. F. Kennedy room. The bed was comfortable, and the room was very... More
