We loved this hotel. We spent a while in the lobby each morning having our complimentary coffee & just enjoying the decor. The rooms are dated , but that just adds to the atmosphere & theme of the hotel. Edna was very helpful & charming. The prices are very reasonable, it's close to the Hatfield/McCoy attractions, & there are a... More

This hotel is ok. I LOVED the lobby, the chandelier was AMAZING. when we got to our room a very strong febreez smell is what welcomed us. We got a non smoking room but found cigarette stains on bed and toilet. We then left to get dinner, when we got back a very strong smoke smell was in the hallway. Our... More

I can't say enough good things about the Mountaineer Hotel. The best part was the hotel's historic, ornate lobby - filled with artifacts from the hotel and the region's past. Excellent service and a reasonable price. And although it wasn't period (the hotel was built in 1929), I LOVED the mid-century Heywood Wakefield furniture in my room.

Had the privilege of staying at this hotel while traveling to this area to ride the Hatfield- McCoy Trail. This is a beautiful hotel & most of rooms have been updated. The staff met us at the door when we arrived on Friday night. Edna was amazing! She was knowledgeable about the hotel & surrounding area. They were all friendly... More

Small comfortable rooms. My parents attended social functions in the hotel in the 50's.. beautiful lobby --next door is the coal house. Enjoyed the time and visiting a little of my history. I was born in the area but had not visited in many years. I was pleased to find this hotel with so much history. Traveling alone I felt... More

From the moment you walk in a see the dated service desk and chandelier, you can tell that the hotel is very proud of both its heritage and its history. The rooms are color matched with the hallways and named after famous people who have stayed there. I did not like the fact they did not have enough natural lighting,... More

We stayed there with our families for the 15th annual Hatfield - MCoy marathons. The hotel is beautiful as well as comfortable. The staff very helpful, going out of the way to accommodate guests. Edna and staff keep the place shiny and clean as well as comfortable. If you had a bad experience, you didn't try to enjoy the place.... More

Stayed here on one of our motorcycle adventures. Hotel has great character and is located right downtown. We walked to dinner, breakfast and to a couple local tourist sites. Located in the heart of Hatfield & McCoy country. The hotel at the time of our stay did not have a restaurant or bar.

My experience at this hotel was very pleasurable. The hotel looks very nice and has a very vintage feel to it. The rooms were nicely furnished and the location of the hotel made the surrounding areas easily accessible. I also like the concept of the hotel rooms being named after celebrities.

This hotel was very comfortable and relaxing. It provides its user with a historical atmosphere. Each room within this hotel has a name in a picture frame next to the door that displays a famous person. It simply displays the person’s name and what their primary occupation was when they were alive. The hotel also has elevators that are over... More
