My colleague and I had to travel to Norwich for a friend's funeral yesterday, and we stayed at the Old Rectory. What a friendly relaxed atmosphere. We were accommodated with a late meal, well presented and tasty. Our rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable. My bathroom was large with a large power shower cubicle and a full size bath.... More

We stayed at the Old Rectory for four nights in December 2014. We loved everything about the hotel. We also loved Norwich. The hotel is ideally located for those who like to combine a semi-rural location with easy access to the city of Norwich. There is an excellent bus service with a stop just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.... More

The warm welcome commenced immediately upon arrival, Chris showing us to our room, explaining everything including the code for the excellent Wi-Fi, about dinner and breakfast and how to get to Norwich without taking the car. Our room in the coachouse was excellent as was the bathroom with a separate rain shower and bath. An aperitif before dinner in the... More

Hotels of a certain size, around ten rooms, have a choice, either make it special for the guest or make it cheap. The team at the old rectory most definitely plumped for the former and I am so glad they did. From the greeting through to the dinner and breakfast, our stay was wonderful. The decor of the room was... More

Stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my Wife's Birthday in October - Chris the owner was there to greet us when we arrived, and did a great job of looking after us during our stay - his regular chef was away when we visited so Chris was head chef as well as host. I had asked for Duck to be... More

Have eaten here a couple of times now, food very good, service friendly, polite, prompt and attentive. Surrounding really nice, relaxed atmosphere. Loved it and will be going back often. Recommend the place to anyone.

We had to travel to Norwich from Kent to a funeral, so decided that we would stay for a couple of days and explore Norwich, as we hadnt been before. We booked the Old Rectory after looking at various hotels over the internet. What a fantastic find. It ticked all our boxes and the hotel was second to none. Very... More

This is our second time staying at The Old Rectory in the Dowagers Cottage which is a self contained cottage separate to the main house. We continue to be impressed with Chris and Sally's attention to detail and customer service which is emulated by their staff. I am impressed by the constant maintenance and cleanliness of the property. It is... More

More a small boutique hotel than a B&B, this beautiful site met all our criteria: country house ambience (but with all the modern conveniences, of course!), on-site restaurant, car park, quiet, near historical sites, and the icing on the cake...a room with a balcony overlooking gardens. Located in the residential suburb of Thorpe St. Andrew just two miles from historic... More
