On our way back home to Indiana, my husband and I stayed overnight at the Gillum House. Even though it was just a one night stay we had a very nice time and were very pleased with our decision to stay there. Our bed was very comfortable with nice linens. The room was supplied with more than enough towels, plenty... More

The Gillum Room is spacious and very comfortable. Large bathroom with both tub (antique) and shower (modern). Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. A real value considering what you get at chain hotels now-days.

Thank you for choosing the Gillum House. The weather and the circumstances in February does not give the opportunity to see Shinnston and the surrounding area at its best. Shinnston has over 40 events scheduled between April and December. From festivals such as the Arts & Crafts April 26 and Frontier Days the 3rd week of September, concerts and Theater... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gillum House. John and Kathleen are wonderful hosts. Breakfast each morning was excellent. Kathleen takes pride in the variety and quality of each well-thought out meal. The Gillum House was everything we expected it to be. That is, enchanting, warm and cozy. Located about 1/2 block from main street where... More

We at the Gillum House are honored to have Veterans and their spouses choose to spend Veterans Day with us. We are grateful to each and every one for protecting our Freedoms. It was a joy to be able to meet you and your lovely wife. John enjoyed the "Chicago" visit as much as you did. Thank you for visiting... More

Bruce and I stayed a night at the Gillum House in Shinnston, WV, a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. My mother’s maiden name is Shinn and I wanted to see the Levi Shinn Log Cabin and do some research in the library. When I looked for a place to stay I discovered that the Gillum House was... More

Thank you for taking the time to review the Gillum House. I admit we do pride ourselves on setting a nice table and then filling the remaining space with good, healthy food. It is our pleasure to work with the Shinnston Historical Association to make the Levi Shinn Log House (the original log house dating from 1778 on original site)... More

The creak on the staircase does not bother you when your are nestled down for the night in a cozy bedroom at the Gillum House... it only enhances the charm of the home. Take this feature and add the clubfooted bathtub for a trip back in time. Kathleen is an amazing hostess (she gives away her books) and took us... More

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. This is such a great City with the Park, Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, and the historic original circa 1778 log house - how can I not be ready to show it off. The Performance Center at the Park is now completed - the Community Band performed there on July 1 and July 12... More

A characterful house and a delicious and hearty breakfast. But Kathleen and John are the highlight. We enjoyed our wide-ranging conversation and left as friends. Kathleen is a one-person band on behalf of Shinnston. And, yes, she also plays in the town band. John is a talented artist and fun guy. If you want to know about Chicago, he's your... More

We also enjoyed your visit and were sorry it had to be so short. To get a conversation on music, art, and Chicago all in one visit was wonderful! Our annual Shinnston Community Band Concert is July 1. We look forward to seeing you again. More

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to participate in the B&B for Vets this year. It is a program where veterans are offered B&B discounts or overnight stays at B&B's participating across the country during Veteran's Day weekend. Kathleen and her husband John, the hosts of the Gillum House, helped found the program a few years... More

I stay in many hotels and B&Bs for business and recreational activities. I find a B&B a little more relaxing than a hotel, and Gillum House was just that. The Panek's accommodated my need for an early breakfast time and were quite helpful with getting my "stuff" into the house since the local carnival was literally right out the door.... More

Thank you for choosing the Gillum House. - even with a carnival. Not every B & B will give you entertainment like that!
