We stayed here for four nights and had a wonderful time. The owners were the perfect hosts and very knowledgeable about the local area. My husband and I stayed at the Thomas Shepherd Inn as part of a visit to Civil War battlefields in the area. The inn is a great "home away from home" if you are visiting Antietam. This is a great little bed and breakfast, serving delivious breakfasts. The hosts are very accommodating and its location is central to the small downtown of Shepherdstown where there are a number of good restaurants. It is close by to the Antietam (Sharpsburg) battlefield. more

This centrally located B&B is a delightful place for a weekend in the countryside. But it's not all that remote--Shepardstown has some wonderful restaurants (try the arctic char at Yellow Brick Bank) and arts opportunities. I have stayed at the Thomas Shepherd Inn when in Shepherdstown for business and have recommended it to friends for a perfect getaway. Jeanne and Jim the Innkeepers are exceptionally gracious.... breakfast is mouthwatering.. and the rooms are beautifully decorated and ohh so comfortable. The Inn is lovely! This is the perfect place for a quiet and relaxing weekend away from home. The owners are very thoughtful and pleasant to guests. The Thomas Shepherd Inn was everything I expected and more! This is the only Inn in Shepherdstown, & the only one they need. The Inn is located in a college town that has specialty shops, historic & cultural interests, & offers a variety of outdoor activities. We found the Thomas Shepherd Inn to be the perfect getaway weekend. The atmosphere is comfortable and homey, and the owners do a great job of attending to the needs of the guests. The food was exceptional-fresh ingredients, great baked goods--we enjoyed every bite. We will be back! more
