Visited the Meck to meet up with my cousin for the evening. What a great evening. Really friendly bar staff, good selection of well kept beers. We all ordered the burgers… Oh wow. Superb. Dizzying number of choices of toppings and extras at no added cost to the price on the menu and served with a side order of proper... More

Stopped in this historic bar after a full day of exploring Antietam battlefield. The locals made you feel like you have always lived there! Limited menu but the food was good. Had "Wendy Fries" which are not on the menu but you can ask for them. Nice selection of beers. A really fun place!

There are not a lot of alternative options in town, but the Meck is actually a really great bar with a good beer selection and a nice layout. The service however was poor enough that I will not go back and will recommend that others do the same after the service my colleagues and I received. On my last visit... More

Our cycling group spent three nights in Shepherdstown at an Inn outside of town, but it would be easy to make "the Meck" a gathering spot in any season. Our first visit was for lunch on Mother's Day...an alternative choice, but perfect for tired and muddy peddlers. We sat on the stoop waiting for the 1 PM opening then entered... More

We stopped in here for a quick drink while in Shepherdstown, this is a super cool old bar, they have a awesome garden and outdoor seating in the back too! It seemed like a Cheers kind of bar where all the locals go and know eachother too which was cool!

Thought a quick "half" Guinness and jaunt back to the hotel...pleasantly surprised by kind and friendly folks to chat politics and books with...missed my local pubs back in JAX Florida after this visit turned into 2 halfs! Stop in for frinedly bar staff and bright locals.

This review is for the bar and not the inn. We arrived around 6pm on New Years Eve and b/c owner was not there, we couldn't rent a room. We were told all rooms have to be rented in advance, unless owner is there. That said, what a nice, historic, warm place to hang out. My girlfriend and I were... More

This is an amazingly cool place, with lots of cool rooms and outdoor spaces that are perfect for mingling and chatting or having a romantic moment in a torchlit corner. They serve food occasionally, but you don't eat here, you chill. You come to sit outside and watch squirrels and listen to music and watch the cat and have a... More

Enjoyed the music, the drinks, and the atmosphere. Shepherdstown is a quaint little place. Old Style Americana mixed with a cool younger culture.

Like the reviewer above, I concur, yet with a higher rating. The Mecklenberg Inn has live music tuesday and wednesdays, where the best of the local artists come out to jam. Many of them are recording artists. It's a quirky town, and one might see 40 nose rings on a typical weekend. The Yellow Brick Bank Inn is the place... More
