We have visited Shepherdstown a few times before but had never stayed over at the Bavarian Inn. Stayed there this month and found it very nice indeed. Upon arriving we were nicely greeted at he front desk. The room we had booked lost internet service from a storm the night before so they upgraded us to the Danube Chalet. That... More

We love the setting of this charming inn, right on the Potomac River and convenient to Shepherdstown. The rooms with the balcony view are perfect for relaxing, watching the river, and hearing the train which runs through town periodically. The pool now has an infinity overflow, which looks out onto the Potomac. The setting is hard to match on a... More

We wanted to enjoy a bike ride along the C & O Canal and decided to stay at The Bavarian Inn and ride the bikes to Harpers Ferry. The reservations were handled excellently by Brenda, who also answers to Brandi. Assistance was also provided by a young lady from Lancaster who's name I forgot. They provided walking directions to get... More

We recently stayed at The Bavarian Inn and were really looking forward to dinner at the Potomac Room. How disappointed we were! My husband and I are widely traveled and have spent much time in Germany and Austria and thus were looking forward to the Wiernerschnitzel! We couldn't have been more disappointed. The veal was tough and tasteless. The coating... More

Dear Ellen B, Thank you for taking the time to give us all feedback on your recent dining experience. What you describe certainly does not sound like to norm for our Inn, and for this I am truly sorry. We hope that we will have another opportunity to show you a great dining experience in the future. Sincerely, The Asam... More

I liked that this hotel was very quiet. I had a comfortable bed and enjoyed a good night's sleep here. There were two, crisp apples in the room and a small balcony to sit on. They had a hose available outside to wash off the bikes and a bike rack in front of the building. Although I wasn't using it... More

The hotel is situated within five minutes of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. It overlooks the Potomac River and the original house has an interesting history. The infinity pool is wonderful. There were plenty of fresh, thick white towels available for guests and a bar. It was uncrowded but there is no lifeguard. The mojitos at the poolside bar were excellent. The... More

The rooms were nice, the food was great, the view of the mountains and Potomac River was excellent. The rooms were pretty much standard as any hotel, except having whirltub(can't think of the name of it now) in the bathroom. The price was a little high to afford, but needed to relax my ankle after twisting it during a hike... More

We were looking for something special, and intrigued by the non-chain appeal of this hotel. Everything was fine, but not really different from any other hotel. If anything, it was quite overpriced. It may not be clear from the website, but the hotel is composed of four buildings: 2 overlook the Potomac and 2 overlook a parking lot. Originally we... More

Dear frugalm0m, Thank you for your review. I am sorry that our prices did not coincide with your needs. Perhaps 2 rooms would have been much more suitable for 4 people. We attempt to describe our rooms and explain they are mostly designed for two, but can accomodate up to 4, with a pull out sofa. Maybe a future visit... More

The good things first. The infinity pool is wonderful. Very well done. Perfect view of the river. Nice bar/snack area at pool. Service tad slow. Hotel reservation service poor. I called, the old fashioned way, to make a reservation. The online site said breakfast for 2 was included, but was told that that it was only worth $20. Seems like... More

Started out with some trouble at the front desk. We had just come off the C&O Canal, riding our bikes and very tired and muddy. Were able to find a hose to wash off the bikes, that was nice. There were three of us and we had booked a Garden View room, only to find out it only had one... More
