Let me begin by saying what Bavarian Inn is not: It is not a 5-star resort. The service is good, but it is not extensive. You are pretty much on your own in the various buildings. (Example: No one asked at check-in if I needed help with my bags.) Bavarian Inn is a good solid, comfortable choice, with beautiful grounds... more

We acquired our reservation through a donation by the Asams which they graciosly donated as a fundraiser. Having traveled extensively we are moderately decerning in our expectations. As a result we believe the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff can certainly buffer any shortcomings of the establishment. Needless to say, we found the staff of the Bavarian Inn well polished.... more

My husband and I stayed here for a trip to Harper's Ferry & Antietam Battlefield. (We opted for a room with a fireplace and whirlpool tub for a little more relaxation.) I couldn't access reservations on their website for some reason and was put on hold on several different occasions for an inordinate amount of time while trying to book... more

My wife and I, celebrating our wedding anniversary, were looking forward to a relaxing night away from home. We were greeted by Inattentive front desk staff that on three occasions were told the stay was being paid by a gift card. Who proceeded to drain my checking (debit) account without my knowledge, during my stay. The restaurant menu selection was... more

My husband and I stayed overnight at The Bavarian Inn after we spent the day touring the Antietam Battlefield. Our final destination was The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The Bavarian Inn was great. A little kitchy, yes -- but a lovely hotel with large rooms, incredibly comfortable beds and great views. We stayed in one of the river... more

Husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary weekend. The room was horribly dated, dirty, and in poor condition. We were welcomed by light bulbs being burnt out, a dusty room, a pink toilet and tub, stained vanity, paper thin walls(the room next door had a child, who woke up at 6:00am and started crying) and broken bathroom fixtures.... more

Had a few friends who stayed here on business, so thought we'd check it out. My wife & I took a little weekend getaway from the kids and found a little slice of heaven. Quaintly decorated rooms, with very comfortable bed. We got cozy in the little jacuzzi tub, and warmed up by the fireplace. The views of the river... more

If you go to this hotel after reading AAA and the previously awarded 4 diamonds, you might think you have happened upon one of the countries true "jems." Think again. A Holiday Inn off the interstate in New Jersey has more going for it than this hotel. The food was terrible (chewy, tough meat), the service disappointing (slow and inattentive),... more

Stayed at Bavarian Inn for a work conference. The staff was more than wonderful, they catered to every need of 42 people, and did so with a smile the entire time. My room was lovely, and clean. The BEST German food I have had in the states!! And a fabulous selection of German Beers!! They also host tasting events, check... more

We had a nice visit to the Shepherdstown area and stayed and dined the Bavarian Inn. It is located a bit out of downtown, but a really short drive away, overlooking the Potomac River. We had a third floor luxury garden view room which afforded a peek of the river. The inn is located near the C&O towpath. We biked... more
