When booking your room, choose a balcony room. We watched the sun set down the mountain. The hotel staff was pleasant and courteous. Too bad the management team didn't have the heat working to all rented rooms and not enough dinner staff in the dining room. The location overcame the shortcoming of the decisions but know that there is the... More

Pipestem was our dating area in the 70's, as we lived nearby. Now we go back there, from our SC home, to visit kin, relax, enjoy old memories while making new ones. The BEST place in America! Here are views from our 7th floor.

We stayed here one night while visiting for a family birthday. The lodge is nice and appears well maintained. Having stayed at Mohican State Park Lodge and Atwood Lake Lodge in Ohio, Pipestem is very similar. They were all built in the late 60's or early 70's and seem to share the same design. Our room was spacious and clean.... More

This is my first experience at a West Virginia State Resort. Thank John D. Rockefeller, whose picture is on the wall of the lodge. I loved the floor to ceiling windows that lookout over the forest and mountains. This resort has an Olympic size, heated pool with a deck and lounge chairs that lookout over the mountains. I only spent the night... More

We spent nine days in our motorhome and had a great time. Restaurant at the bottom via the tram was expensive but great. Hotel was average but service was great and staff very friendly. The golf courses were absolutely fantastic. Immaculate, especially the lengthy nine hole course with deer and turkey everywhere. We will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful place to stay - we absolutely love this lodge and will come back years to come. Yes the lodge is a little dated, but it is a state resort park, so I am certain it will come in time. You can relax and be in peace & quiet w/ out traffic and tourism. Gorgeous place to... More

There are two parts to this lodge, one on top of the ridge, and the other at the bottom of the gorge, accessible only by a tram ride down the mountain side. We ate and shopped at the mountain top venue, and both were very pleasant. We stayed at the lodge at the bottom of the gorge - absolutely wonderful!... More

I love camping at Pipestem, but the lodge needs updated. Starting to look a little shabby. The restaurant is probably bid to the lowest bidder and it shows. When we walked in for breakfast recently, it seemed about 60 degrees. Everyone was cold, the waitress apologized, but said nothing could be done to regulate the temperature. It is an on... More

We didn't choose this hotel originally, after deciding not to stay at the local B&B because of how outdated and dirty it was, we had no other options as we needed to be at a wedding. The hotel was clean but smelled old and the bedrooms were just outdated and dark. We didn't care at this point because we were... More

The resort as a whole has everything a family needs for a full vacation. It was built in the 60's but the hotel and cabins have lots of charm and warmth. There are 7 floors in Mckeever Lodge so get a double room or king ex. suite w/ sofa bed( frig, microwave, dishes) on that floor facing the river gorge... More
