The General Lewis is our favorite place in Lewisburg. Antique furniture, rugs, pictures, and memorabilia add to the gracious and authentic atmosphere. The restaurant serves delicious food - brunch is especially good. Rooms are all furnished with period pieces - the opposite of the generic hotel room with identical decor, beds, and granite counter in bath. Bathrooms in some rooms... More

If you are looking for a cookie-cutter run-of-the-mill, modern, boring hotel then the General Lewis Inn is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a wonderful, unique dining and lodging experience then this is the place. True - there is no elevator and you will have to lug your bags up to the second floor rooms. I... We stayed at the General Lewis Inn for 4 nights in October with my husbands sister and her husband. My husband and I usually stop in Lewisburg on our way when visiting our son and his wife who live in Virginia. The towns slogan says something like "Lewisburg, the coolest small town in the US". After staying there for 4... More

Very nice people that can't do enough for you. The food was excellent but not included as a B&B style of an Inn. The room was clean and quaint however the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Hard yet bouncy like a trampoline. Left in the middle of the night to get a descent night's sleep.

If decent food and terrific hospitality is all you are looking for, then this will do. However, if comfort is what you're looking for, then run. The rooms are incredibly tiny, the bathrooms reminded me of a park bathroom, the closet smells musty, and they have the most UNCOMFORTABLE BEDS I've ever experienced. We ended up leaving at 2 a.m.... Old hotel steeped in history with adequate service. Parking is tight. Meals at the hotel restaurant are not cheap, portions are small, and the menu is inaccurate compared to available fare. Be sure to ask the waitress if the entree you desire is indeed available before committing your order. The dining room is small and gets filled quickly with patrons.... More

A wonderful time was had by all. It was so good to return to the General Lewis, our favorite place in Lewisburg. Now in NC, we used to live near Lewisburg and often dined at the inn. The Methodist church is across the street and we would usually have lunch at the inn on Sundays. When friends visited, the inn... More

If you want knew and modern, stay out of town at one of the chain places. If you want clean, historic, and walking distance to everything in town, this is the place. The baths could use an update, and plan on lugging your own suit cases upstairs, but friendly and clean. Comfy bed and lots of hot water.

This is a great place to stay. We go each year for a family reunion and this is a perfect place to have it. Nice sitting areas, breakfast lunch and dinner served on site. Walking distance to downtown Lewisburg restaurants and shops. New owners really nice and are doing nice new things to this historic hotel. I am excited already... More

Stayed in the charming family suite with four other friends riding the Greenbriar Trail. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. The meal was really 5 star caliber. The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was again wonderful. Hosts were very friendly and intent on making your stay perfect. Location is great if you... More
