A great setting away from the huste/bustle of Cusco I am glad we chose Gringo Wasi. Lyle is very responsive before we arrived with many details of our trip and suggestions for what to bring. He met us at the airport and agreed to take us to several places in Cusco before we went to GW. We had a very... More

I think the best thing about Gringo Wasi is the personal care of Lyle and Lily. You become part of their family (and it was good to know that we are the first Filipinos to stay there! Check out their world map! We are the little white pin on the Philippines!). Lyle was very helpful even before we arrived, fixing... More

We'll not repeat what others reviewers have already said. Lyle & Lili are great hosts. At first we did not believe that Huarocondo would be a great base to explore the Sacred Valley. But it is true. Moray, Maras, Chinchero & Ollantaytambo are 1-2 hours away by car. You can do even Machu Picchu if you are happy to spend... More

Okay fine, we will contribute another awesome review to a place run by incredibly nice people. When we arrived late and had a car with us, and Lyle was the first to greet and say "glad you made it!" Situated in a small village with arguable the best slow cooked pork in the world, gringowasi is a great escape from... More

We had a wonderful stay at Gringo Wasi. We were definitely looking for somewhere low key, to use as a home-base to explore the Sacred Valley, after coming off of a medical mission. We only had 3 nights there total but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lyle and Lili were extremely helpful with planning before we arrived and once we were... More

GringoWasi B&B IS remote from Cusco city, yet you'll get detailed information about getting there by the very helpful hosts. Speaking both Spanish and English, they provide you with lots of information about the area, food and more. Were conveniently picked up from airport (23$) and spent 2 nights in the nice little village of Huarocondo. Excellent breakfast (included, amazing... More

My wife and I stayed at GringoWasi B&B for a week during our honeymoon trip to Peru. Despite our frequent last minute changes of plans (my wife came down with a sinus infection) our hosts Lyle and Lily were nothing but supportive, patient and always ready to arrange transport and come to our aid! They even extended our stay at... More

It is no wonder that Gringo Wasi has been the #1 Cusco area Bed and Breakfast for over two months. I would not be surprised if it stays there permanently. The level of service was exceptional. The couple that runs the place will do everything they can to make sure you enjoy your stay. Bathrooms are very modern. Only drawback is how much the sound carries through the building, due to poor insulation. The benefit of this is that the WIFI signal carries well too!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
GringoWasi is a unique bed and breakfast offering a quiet small town experience just 30 min. from Cusco, perfect for relaxing and refueling. Come and enjoy our refurbished and spacious century old traditional adobe home in Huarocondo, conveniently located between Cusco and Ollantaytambo. This pre-inca and traditional town is nestled in a beautiful valley with a population of approximately 5,000 people, Huarocondo provides a welcomed change of pace for travelers looking to escape the tourist vibe of Cusco and enjoy a peaceful night’s rest. The property is owned and operated by Lyle & Lily an American/Peruvian couple that relocated to the Cusco region to operate a bed and breakfast. Lyle is originally from southern California and most recently lived in Las Vegas, Lily is originally from Lima Peru and lived in the US for 12 years, the two met in Las Vegas, fell in love and were married. Not long after their first trip together to Lily’s home country of Peru, the two started to make plans to move there permanently. In early 2012 the couple took a trip to Cusco and purchased the property with the intention of converting it into a bed and breakfast now known as “GringoWasi”. The name was chosen as a way to pay respect to the local culture; most of the population of Huarocondo still speaks their native language Quechua, Wasi being a Quechua word for house means the name can be translated to “Gringo’s House”. GringoWasi offers a large great room for relaxing, an inviting patio, separate dining room, kitchen, 24 hr. hot water, DVD library for guest use and a smoke free environment, guests can also enjoy complimentary Wi-fi throughout the property, bag storage and calls to or from the US and Canada. Our spacious rooms feature locally handcrafted décor and wood floors. Select rooms also include down comforters clock radio I-pod docks, 32” LCD televisions with satellite and DVD players. Breakfast is included with your room and may include (subject to availability) fresh baked breads, fruit, ham, lechon (roast pig), cheeses, jam, eggs, fruit juice, milk, coffee, and teas. Laundry services, transportation and evening meals are also available for an additional fee.At GringoWasi we also offer tour services for our guests and would be happy to assist with all your travel plans, beginning with your arrival in Lima. We work with several properties in Lima as well as local tour operators and would be happy to assist you in booking your room in Lima, flight from Lima to Cusco and any desired tours. Additionally we offer private and personalized back road adventure tours to some of the local sites on a limited basis. Please contact us in advance if you are interested in a private tour as they tend to go quick. Tour options include Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Inca Trail, Moray, paragliding, zip lines and bungee jumping to name a few.If you are looking for a little local excitement we suggest visiting in November when there are two separate festivals, one celebrating the founding of the city and the other a celebration of roast pig or “Lechon”. June is also an exciting time as this is when the region celebrates Inti Raymi, the biggest festival in the area and one of the busiest times to visit Cusco. ... more   less
