Cheat River Lodge offers fully furnished cabins on the banks of the Cheat River. All cabins have a hot tub built into a deck. The cabins are cozy and well-furnished with fireplace or wood stove. The setting on the river is lovely. We like to come out, take a hike in the adjacent national forest, and then eat a nice... more

It was a lovely place to stay for a few days. The location was fantastic. Who can top WV in the fall? We stayed one night at the lodge and then two additional nights at the Big Poplar. Our night at the lodge left a lot to be desired......the room while clean was in need of some repairs, there was... more

This is a charming little inn on the river. Nice dining inside and on a deck outside. I've never been in a room, but I understand they are cute and clean. They have a variety of small cottages/cabins to rent - some with hottubs outside on the deck. I've stayed in two -- the tree house (closer for walking to... more

The lodge was in bad need of an upgrade in every area. They had a beautiful location on the river and near the state park but the hotel wasn't want we expected. The mattress was worn. The towels were very thin. The carpet needed replacement. The porch was great but we could smell pesticide where they had sprayed the screen.... more

I had to phone the hotel to make our reservation and they required me to send a $100 check (wouldn't take credit card over phone but would except credit card for balance at time of check-in???). I told the lady that our small dog was traveling with us and requested a ground floor near the pet area. We arrived shortly... more

My husband and I disagree about whether we liked the lodge (he did, I didn't). I objected to finding dirt in the sheets and a badly stained carpet that our baby was crawling all over. And blinds that didn't fully close. We both objected to the fact that our garbage (including dirty diapers) was not emptied during the course of... more

We stayed at the Treehouse for three nights. We were late getting in to check in, but the key and the instructions were waiting for us on the office door. The Treehouse is a couple of hundred yards down the road from the Lodge, set back in the trees above the road and river. A very quiet location with little... more

My husband, brother and I took my parents to the Inn for dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. We made reservations at the Inn based on recommendations from many locals and they were right. The food was not only excellent but had a beautiful presentation and good portions. The service wonderful. Our table on the deck patio overlooked the... more

We have stayed at the lodge many times. We always try to come on our aniversary, unfortunately we did not get to come last year due to other obligations. One year I called ahead and had them fix our room with wine, etc. for our special occassion. There was wine chilling along with special appetizers from the resturant. We were... more

We stayed at the Cheat River Inn when we went to Davis and Elkins College to see our daughter in a play. The Inn is family-owned and provides a unique, non-standard experience that you can't get at a chain. Each room is accessed through a lovely screened porch with rocking chairs and tables. The hotel overlooks the Shaver's Fork of... more
