A great Veterans' Day escape! Suite with canyon view was just nice but clean and comfortable. The Smokehouse Restaurant was a grand bonus. My 11 year old grandson suggested, "I figure this is the kind of food that first class passengers got to eat on the Titanic!" I figure that he is right! ( $100 for 4 full memorable adult... More

We stayed at Blackwater Falls State Park late October. This is a beautiful state park with a lot of close overlooks - some that you can even walk to from the lodge. The lodge is your basic state park lodge and it might smell a little musty - but you get used to it. Plus, when you have the waterfalls... More

My wife and I stayed in a cabin with her parents over Labor Day weekend. The only complaint, the leaves hadn't changed yet ;). We took in the beauty of West Virginia while hiking and stopping at overlooks. The falls themselves were a sight to see. We will be visiting the beauty of Blackwater Falls again!!!

Hotel is a little out dated but we knew that going in. Mattress could have been better. Restaurant in the lodge was a bit expensive for ok taste though breakfast was good. Biggest complaint was that the hot tub (one of the things I was looking forward to) was out of service. No notice anywhere, no notice on their website,... More

Just got home from enjoying a weekend at this lodge. Yes, it is dated, but the charm of the lodge overcomes everything else. Where else can you sit by the hour in front of a beautiful stone fireplace (while it was lightly snowing outside). The lodge setting encourages everyone to gather at the game tables to enjoy cards, board games,... More

The room was very comfortable and clean with a big screen TV. The decor of the rooms is dated, but it is a lodge after all. The food is very good with plenty of it. We had a buffet for breakfast with lots of delicious choices. Especially liked the complementary hot coffee in the lobby every morning, great way to... More

We stayed here for three nights as part of a group tour package to ride the vintage trains in the area (Cass Mountain Railroad, Durbin, Green Brier, and Cheat Mountain Salamander.) The rooms are basic and clean but dated; daily maid service was thorough and timely. Early coffee service was provided in the lobby daily. The breakfast and dinner buffets... More

The turning leaves in Blackwater Falls State Park were lovely. The Lodge is far from lovely. I will NOT recommend this place to friends or family. Why not? The list is long but most especially: The Lodge is dark, dank, and dated; Old carpeting throughout; The rooms are hideous and small; The ceilings and carpeting and walls and bath tubs... More

My husband and I have stayed here many times. While it is not a luxury hotel, it is very clean and comfortable. Has a nice restaurant- good for breakfast before heading out for an active day. Dinner there is convenient if we are too bushed to go back out. Endless choice of hiking- in the park or surrounding area. Also,... More

We were married on the back grounds many years ago and brought our children back to see the place that will always be magical in our eyes. The first time we stayed in the lodge in a suite but this time we enjoyed a cabin. They are indeed rustic and old fashioned but that is right up our alley. It... More
