The Lodge has lots of cool stuff, beautiful grounds with lawn games, beautiful views, a game room, a pool & jacuzzi, a fireplace and TV and computer room for public use, and a pretty darn good, almost great dinning room (see separate review). The overnight rooms are a little bit dated and a little bit worn and a little bit... More

We've been visiting Blackwater Falls since we were kids and love the views. My husband and I have stayed at the lodge twice now, most recently over Columbus Day weekend. We had a beautiful view of the canyon from our room, and even during the rainy weekend, the fall colors were gorgeous. We know that the lodge itself is old,... More

Parents brought me to Blackwater Falls as a child and it has always held wonderful memories of summer vacation. Returned in late 1990's with wife and child and stayed in one of the original rustic cabins with wood burning fireplace. Came with another couple for the holiday weekend but booked to late and were unable to get one of the... More

What a beautiful place in late September! We made a family trip with the in-law parents and my wife's sister and husband and their 2 kids. When the in-law children arrived with chickenpox, my wife and I and are 2 very small children ended up switching from the rustic 4-bdrm cabin to the more luxurious 4-bdrm cabin (with wi-fi, tv,... My husband and I just returned from a long weekend trip at Blackwater Falls. We stayed here at the lodge and would rate it a 3.5 out of 5. This was our first time here. We were able to check-in 2 hours early, which was nice after a long drive. Upon check-in, we were given a map of the trails... More

My husband and I spent a long weekend hiking in West Virginia. We chose the Blackwater Falls State Park because of the many hiking trails and the waterfall. The Lodge itself was clean and comfortable. The hallways reminded me of a college dorm. We had a room with a king-sized bed facing the canyon. We were surprised by the HD... More

I spent the night in the lodge. The rooms are quite typical WV state park...meaning nothing extravagant, but clean and comfortable. The only reason for 4 of 5 stars was the loud a/c unit as someone else mentioned. But...don't let that deter families. So much to do! Wonderful hikes to be enjoyed by all, beautiful indoor pool, and fun old... More

We met some friends there and stayed two nights. The rooms were clearly aging and the carpets definitely needed to be replaced (kept our shoes/slippers on the whole time). The "Canyon View" rooms had barely a view at all. Temperature control was a little iffy. We had one dinner in the lodge & it was OK, but nothing special. We... More

Our stay was fine, but just want to mention that room 244 on the second/top floor (all rooms are on this floor) was directly above gigantic a/c units outside and they were LOUD when on, but fortunately their noise drowned out the sounds of people slamming or closing doors.

This lodge is a very adequate lodge. It's primary draw is that it is located close to beautiful scenery and the Blackwater Falls. Our room had wifi and was air-conditioned. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate. It was not fancy nor was it upscale. The bathroom had a sink, but no counters around it and the regular straight... More
