This is a nice secluded resort with comfortable lodges, a few miles away from Davis, in lovely surroundings. A lot of outdoor activities are proposed in the area. It is a good destination for Washingtonians who want to enjoy the countryside on a weekend.

really great place with heated pool, jogging path, nature trails, near skiing (downhill and cross country), hiking, mountain biking, fishing.....been in winter and summer, and it's almost heaven. I found the new road, Senator Byrd's folly, and it only takes 2.5 hours from DC! good for a weekend too.

Nice 2 story house rentals with large porches tucked into the trees. Close to town, trails and skiing. They offer a few sizes of houses to rent depending on how many people you have staying. The price is right, we'll rent here again

We rented two different cabins, the larger ones with a jacuzzi. We arrived at the end of the day and upon entering, our initial impression was that everything was spotlessly clean. First the positives: everything looked very clean. The cabins are privately owned so some have more in terms of dishes, paper products, pots and pans, etc. than others. Ours... More

We visited the area to see a concert at the Purple Fiddle. Friends had decided to stay at The Black Bear Resort so despite the $145 price, we made reservations as well. We had a large room with mini frig, small microwave, coffee maker, fireplace and whirlpool tub. The rooms are privately owned so are decorated differently and may have... More

I stayed at Black Bear Resort because I was attending a friend's wedding which was held on the grounds. Because my partner and I were only going to be there a few days (and since it is just the two of us) we wanted to stay in the Inn rather than rent a cabin. I called back in January, only... More

We were looking in the Davis, WV area for a place to have our wedding for the end of May. We stumbled upon Black Bear Resort and thought it was perfect. The setting was beautiful and the inn suites and cabins appeared to be very nice. The woman working the day we found the place, Jaineay, gave us keys to... More

Stuck in NoVa, we (2 couples with 2 young children each) decided to escape to the wilds of West Virginia. We arrived at Black Bear Resort in the middle of a blizzard and found our cute “pedestal” cabin in the woods (#67). It was warm and inviting and well equipped and nicely decorated. The kids loved sleeping in the loft... More

Nice area, we have the small cabin but it is more than enough for the 3 of us and our 2 dogs. Our cabin is outdated and worn but still well worth the money. Suggest you pack your food as the grocery store(along with the town) closes at 9:00 PM. Will update my review as the days go on!

We stayed here for 3 nights, was kind of scared of what it might look like in the inside. It was actually clean and had everything you needed. The rooms were kinda cold, especially the bathroom. But it was well kept, found some dead bugs here and there but it's near the woods so what do you expect. The had... More
