My husband and I booked our rooms on a Wednesday and we were staying there that following weekend. I was told on the phone that our room would be a Crest View room and that we might be able to check in early if our room was available. We arrived in Blackwater Falls on Saturday. Around 3pm I called the... more

I wanted to surprise a friend with the relaxation package for her birthday. I was so nervous about taking her after reading all the negative reviews. I actually considered canceling after I read some of them. I decided not to and I am happy I didn't. We had a wonderful girls getaway! The service was wonderful. Everyone was friendly. The... more

I am planning a family reunion and had decided on the Canaan Valley Resort. After reading the reviews on this site, I panicked and decided to make the trip to check things out! I expected terrible conditions and can truly say I was very happy. Okay, I was a little scared when we pulled in, because it definately looks rustic.... more

When you think of a Resort you think of a very nice hotel with great rooms, service, and stuff to do, on our vist this was truely not the case. Although the Sking was fun, the other aspects of the resort failed terribly. The lobby was very hot from the pizza place next to the lobby. The staff in the pool and... more

Took advantage of a romance weekend package. Check-in was quick and efficient, place is clean, room was small for a king size bed, but everything was neat and clean. However, as soon as the folks in the adjacent room checked in, that's when the romance stopped. The walls are so thin you can hear EVERY word from the room next... more

I have rented a deluxe 4 bedroom cabin for the summer for my famly but based on the mixed reviews of this resort I wanted to come and check it out for myself. If I didnt like it then I could cancel my cabin reservations. So we booked a night in the lodge itself in room 548 which is in... more

While returning to Virginia on a Monday night, I was driving through the WV mountains (two-lane Route 33) in the fog and rain. The fog eventually became so thick my teenage son and I could no longer see the road beneath us! I turned around (thank God no one was coming the other way), and headed back down Route 32... more

We stayed at the Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center so that we could go snowboarding at Canaan Valley/Timberline during President's Day Weekend. Since it was also Valentine's Day, we paid for the special Valentine's Day package, which came out to be $360 for two nights for the both of us. I cannot believe we paid $180/night for a room... more

Canaan Resort has become one of my favorite places for a relaxing weekend. Mostly during summer and fall for motorcycle rides in the mountains. The roads around this resort are a motorcyclists heaven! Recently took my family to the resort to play in the snow. Had a good time overall. The new airboarding at the ski resort is a must... more

Rooms are extremely dated and dirty, we saw multiple spider webs INSIDE the room. It also smelled terrible and the carpet looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. Did not even bother to eat at the restaurants, as the food selection was limited and pricey. The tennis courts are broken and the paintball arena leaves a... more
