I arrived in Charleston, exhausted at around 2am after several hours of unsuccessful searching for a hotel with available rooms in towns along the way. I have stayed here now three nights and this is a good hotel that is convenient to downtown Charleston. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Room was clean and typical of this chain. Not bad for the price. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the room was clean. But one could probably do better. The room was sort of dreary. Although it didn't bother me because the heating fan drowned it out, I did notice some moderate traffic noise. more

I've stayed in quite a few Hampton Inns (I'm a government employee) but this has to be one of the worst. Its the little things in a room that sours your experience: 4 out of 5 lightbulbs in the room were burned out and I had to call maintenance.
