We visited Charleston Capitol and stayed at this hotel for a night. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was somewhat dated and the beds were too soft but you can't beat the inexpensive rate. Besides, the hot breakfast was nice and satisfactory. The only complaint was the outdoor pool. It was small and it appeared no one had taken... More

The only bad thing was the scratchy towels. Otherwise, everything was just fine, location, room size, comfort. We would stay here again. The staff were great, and there is the Clay Center right nearby. Next time we come through, we will take the grandkids there.

You get what you pay for. We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay for one night. The hotel is a little dated but fine overall. It was clean and the staff were friendly. Typical breakfast in the morning. You can walk to some nice restaurants. I had no complaints and would stay again.

In Charleston for family illness and subsequent passing we spent a week in the Charleston Plaza also known as Charleston Capitol Hotel. The building was originally a Holiday Inn when built in the '60s and most recently was a Fairfield. It may be again as it has reportedly been bought by Wyndham. It is a little dated and has problems... More

This hotel is dated, yet it still provides the basics. The bedding and some decor have been updated, the room was clean. The common areas throughout the hotel were not very clean with one exception- the breakfast area. The breakfast was above average with a good variety. The main issue I have is only one working elevator of three, in... More

Where to begin....as I checked in, the desk clerk yelled at people waiting to be buzzed in the doors! We had two rooms reserved, for us and friends. We climbed in bed and saw something dark on the sheets--DRIED BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!!! It looked like, well use your imagination. I called the front desk and said if they didn't get clean... More

Seriously, Choice Hotels may want to take notes. The staff (Courtney and Jackie specifically) were almost overly friendly. Check in was easy, they recommended places to eat and things to do and gave me a map of Charleston. The room, while not perfect, showed they were at least trying with the materials available to them. It didn't look dated and... More

If you're looking for overall convenience of location, comfort, free breakfast and price this is probably the place to stay. I booked on Hotels.com and didn't have to pay an extra penny upon arrival or departure. Plenty of free parking. The room was spacious and the foam bed was soft to the touch but I slept well. Could use more... More

My husband and I were traveling & knew our stopping point would be Charleston so we jumped on hotels.com and got a King room for only $52!!! We get there at 9:30 pm, we are tired & hungry. We ask the nice lady at check in where we could get good food, and she actually recommended a place that delivers... More
