A great getaway for the family. Slowed down life and took it all in... Coming here is becoming a generational trip. I came as a child with my grandparents and now bring my family. Nothing fancy but, sometimes that is what is needed and it is a good thing.

We just returned from a two day trip to Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. We spent one night in one of the cabins. The cabin was very comfortable and has an excellent kitchen. Bring your own food - not much option to buy supplies close by. Cabin was rustic, but very comfortable. Bathroom was small, but adequate. Took the two... More

Just spent the weekend in Cass, WV with 11 other family members. We stayed in one of the houses in the town. First off, the town is adorable. It has a lot of white similar houses that you can rent for a few nights. The town seems so old and that is what is beautiful about it. You get the... More

I recently visited the Cass Scenic Railroad for the first time in several years, and I wanted to point out a few changes that have occurred, which I believe diminish what could easily be a five star attraction. My review will evaluate the train ride itself, not the gift shop, restaurant, or lodging. During the late 1980's I did stay... More

History that you can experience first hand. My family took the walking tour of the old mill and train maintenance facilities. We took the 4 hour trip to the top of Bald Knob and fun was had by all including the 9 and 13 year old daughters. The views along the run were spectacular. The view at the top was... More

our special needs son had been looking forward to riding this train for sometime. we went on a Wednesday and rode the 11 am 2 hour train to Whitaker station. it wasn't really crowded and the trip was plenty long for our teenagers that were not excited about the journey. The staff was helpful and they had a wheel chair... More

We took the 2 hour train ride and myself, my husband and our 2 five year daughters loved it. It was a nice, pleasant trip and all the people on the train seemed to enjoy the ride. I would recommend either bringing your own picnic lunch, or purchasing one at the company store. There is a thirty minute stop about... More

We called for information and were impressed with the helpful and friendly person who answered the phone. Today we took the 2-hour ride up the mountain and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had lunch in their cafe and our loaded hot dogs and fountain drinks hit the spot. I have visited here one other time, and I'd do it again. It's... More

Went on the dinner train ride 45 minutes each way. Called and made the reservation customer service was great and very helpful. You should get there a little early so you can look around the gift shop. The train ride was nice, we even had a band on board with us playing music up the mountain. I feel the ride... More

Spend an afternoon at Cass or spend the night in their cute little houses. A delightful, fun and learning experience for all ages. The train ride is typical of most of this type but the property overall is great even if you don't take the train ride or spend the night. It was quite chilly when we were there, even... More
