A mid-January birthday was the excuse to return to a longtime favorite. In fact, the wine glasses at the lobby wine-tasting noted its 20th anniversary. And we first came to the resort that year (1994). Although it is showing its age a bit, the staff greeted us warmly -- even a personalized thank-card for coming back. Our room was clean... More

With a couple of Oscar nominations for the movie “Wild,” the celebration has already started at the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Wash. At the terminus of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, Skamania is offering a live-the-movie getaway package. The “Wild” experience at the lodge includes activities which bring the book and movie to life. It starts... More

Wow Jay, thanks for painting with Wild package picture so perfectly for our friends! We could not have said it better ourselves. You are right, the biggest challenge is leaving. Especially with the great weather we have been experiencing in the PNW lately. Come back and see us again soon. Ken Daugherty General Manager More

I really want to like it here, but little things just keep making it hard. We have one more night of a 3 night stay. Arriving just after 4 on Saturday, it was understandably a bit chaotic. But it was still hard not to be frustrated when it took 3 trips to our 4th floor room before we got a... More

My husband, sister and brother-in-law stayed at Skamania Lodge for my birthday weekend. The hotel was great, we had a pet friendly room as we brought our small dog with us. We enjoyed the Riverrock Lounge and the outdoor hot tub. The room was nice and the grounds were beautiful. The only disappointing aspect would be the pet fee. It... More

It has been approximately two years since we last stayed here. We reserved one of the premier river rooms. View was beautiful and the room was nice, clean, and well decorated. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and nice, but not fake. I really appreciate this. Sometimes, you find friendly staff, but it appears they are being nice because they are... More

Beautiful venue and lodge! We arrived and were obviously one of only a few parties at the property. We were given a room viewing the front driveway as opposed to being places on the side viewing the gorge. We were offered an upgrade for $50.00 per night, however with a empty property with tons of rooms why wouldn't you give... More

We upgraded our room and got a beautiful view of the water. We love the fireplace inside and the fire pit outside. Great service. The food is a little spendy but that is to be expected. You can still hear your neighbors a bit, like any hotel. Especially people having full volume conversations in the hallway when other people are... More

Sarah S, Thanks for much for the nice note! I’m so glad to hear you upgraded to a room with a fireplace. Those rooms are so cozy this time of year. You will have to come back and check out our new Casco Especial on Tuesday nights in the River Rock. It features Mexican, Central American and South American cuisine... More

What a beautiful and relaxing place. Everyone hangs out in the lobby area where there is a fireplace and chairs to relax in. There is also a beautiful view. Great place to get away for a weekend. They have great walking trails on the lodge property. Perfect way to stretch your legs and see some beautiful sights. Must do while... More

We spent three days at Skamania with two individuals who have never been there. It was, as usual, a delightful experience. The scenery is breathtaking, the food is outstanding, and the employees are courteous, friendly, and accommodating. This was a very slow time and it would have been easy for the service to be a bit "off" but it wasn't.

Bendoreg, Thank you for the note. We are so glad you had a “wonderful time” with us. You are absolutely right, January tends to be our slow time of year but it is one of our favorites. Outstanding views of the Columbia River Gorge, the roaring fire in the Gorge Room and a cozy rocking chair are hard to beat... More

I wasn't sure what to expect from this lodge, but it was good. The rooms were big, king sized beds, and the food at the lodge was very good. I especially loved the huckleberry lemon drop martini that I had at River Rock. This was overall a very relaxing place to spend my birthday weekend. You don't even have to... More
