We loved it! Nice historic feel with a little luxury. Good thick walls made for a quiet sleep, beds were darn comfy. Helpful staff. Within easy walking distance to all the fun stuff downtown. Remodel going on now, still quiet, only going to make it a more awesome place. There are trains running fairly close to the hotel but we... More

I stay at the Montvale when I stay downtown Spokane. It is a very special hotel with its sitting areas in the center of the hotel and the rooms are very nice. It has a great location for enjoying the downtown of Spokane. It is also a great price for a very nice hotel. I find it very romantic and... More

I've read complaints about this hotel, but it is a heritage building, not the Marriott. I like the character and the uniqueness of each room. We stayed in the Presidential suite which was pretty but quite noisy as it faced the strew on both sides of the room. Coffee is on the 3rd floor and is decent.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! We appreciate that you like our unique property. Just so you are aware, the new ownership is putting in new windows that will reduce street sound dramatically! Hope you will be back soon. Best, Anny More

If you like small historic hotels, then you are in for a treat in Spokane. The Montvale Hotel with its 36 rooms is the oldest hotel in downtown. This was our first stay at this hotel. We travel to Spokane every six months. The hotel is right in the Arts district of Spokane with restaurants, shopping, bars and breweries with... More

Thank you! So glad you like the cozy feel of the Montvale! Thank you for trying us out. I hope you were able to enjoy some of our onsite restaurants, but if not, maybe this Spring! By then we should have breakfast at an onsite restaurant. Best wishes and I'm sorry for the slow response to your wonderful review. Warm... More

We loved this hotel as soon as we walked in. It has retained its old world charm and feels so comfortable. The beautiful, antique-filled lounge on the second floor - especially when flooded with sunlight form the skylight, is fantastic. Our room was comfortable and the hotel's location with its proximity to downtown makes the Montvale an excellent place to... More

I was there for an overnight trip and the hotel intrigued be by not being a chain and being old (1880's or so). The first floor lobby is small and utilitarian but the second floor lobby is very nice with seating areas, etc. The room was reasonably average size with high ceilings that mad e it seem larger. The bathroom... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here on a last minute decision after a concert mainly due to the location near Spokane's downtown. The hostess was very helpful and welcoming and we got to our room without any issue. The rooms are fairly large, clean, and homey but have very thin walls. The bed provided a good night's sleep and the... More

Thank you, your candid feedback is appreciated! Next month we will have another parking lot behind the hotel, in addition to our small one. We will have parking for all of our guests - we understand how frustrating it can be when there isn't enough. We are also addressing the noise issues in the rooms. Our common area renovation is... It had been a two years since I had stayed at the Montvale Hotel and was aware of the negative reviews and unfortunate downhill slide of the property in the past couple years, however I find the experience pleasant with the staff and new owners working hard to bring her back to the splendor she deserves. If you are going... More

It's great to hear that you enjoy your stays with us, and I agree that the Montvale does have a European feel to it. The new owners are putting in some beautiful new art and furniture, so I hope you like what you see next time you stay! Also, there is another new restaurant opened onsite (in the old Catacombs... In a downtown location, there is much that you want to see that is walk able. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms have a lot of character, with very high ceilings, a most comfortable king size bed and very spacious. Scaffolding was up doing more renovation and carpet needs to go down and I will... The Montvale is a remodeled classic downtown hotel; however, it's been a long time since the remodel and it's now time for a refresh--and should you choose to stay here you will live through that refresh. We arrived on a day with temps in the 80s and were told that the air conditioning was not working. Turns out the system... More

Thank you, we really appreciate your feedback. We are, in fact, addressing the noise in the rooms as part of our remodel. We will be putting in new windows and additional insulation where needed.
