The Montvale Hotel in Spokane, Washington, is one of those hotels if you are lucky enough to know about it, you are in for a wonderful surprise. The Montvale is like no other hotel I have stayed in. I thought at first I was in Europe as the flair of the place as well as the décor, was absolutely European.... More

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the Montvale. We were disappointed. The room had stained fabric on the chair and soiled carpeting. You could hear bed noise and foot steps from the room above, due to squeaky floors and an old building. The second floor lobby was a nice place to gather.

Terrible location; no amenities; unprofessional help; noisy; broken down furniture (just because it's old doesn't make it classy!); run down neighborhood; bad parking. It is 90% of the reason I will never return to Spokane. Ugly place, ugly people. Apparently the "decent" people climb up to the "skywalk" to get away from places like the Montvale. In Europe this would... More

I called this hotel today to book a room in the future. I called and the employee said she was caught up checking people in and out so couldn't take my reservation. She promised to call me back within a few minutes. Four hours later, there was no return call so I called again. This time I was put on... More

The person at the front desk was so bad we left and stayed at another hotel. We will probably still have to pay even though we did not stay because it was non-refundable. We have stayed here 4 or 5 times in the past and liked it, but never again if we are forced to pay for the night we... More

This is an old creepy building with a thin veneer of polish. The staff is very inhospitable and will upcharge you for sneezing. They do not abide by their own policies but think you should keep paying for terrible service. Don't waste your money on this place. I did.

When you book a room in an historic building, don't expect cookie cutter amenities. I just love the feel of lovingly worn furnishing, Art Deco lighting and tall ceilings. The sky light gave the top two floors warm lighting. I found the room large and comfortable, the bathroom was huge.

We booked the Montvale in Spokane through Hotwire. (Nothing against the Montvale.) However, using Hotwire was a mistake because it was advertised that we were getting a $203/night room at a 56% savings. When we called the hotel, they said we were getting a standard $129/night room. It took a half hour on the phone speaking to different levels of... More

There are only two reasons to stay at the Montvale Hotel : the interesting shabby-chic building and the centre of down town location. Note that there are zero services available The rooms are large but the beds are very uncomfortable with absolutely terrible pillows, the street noise is unacceptable. Ideal location if attending the Spokane Symphony performances overwise there is... More
