My husband and I generally aren’t “B&B people” as we mostly like to keep to ourselves and don’t excel in the area of chitchat. However, we really enjoyed our stay at The James House, partly due to the fact that the owner does not live on site so the guests pretty much have the run of the place in the... more

This bed and breakfast has excellent food, easy parking, and is in a central location. The staff is extremely gracious. I enjoyed our stay overall, but not our particular room. It was the only room available and was the cheapest. Very cramped with a tiny bathroom. There were no water glasses in the room our first night, which was tough... more

The sound of a gas powered leaf blower permeates the property. My least favorite noise of all. I went for peace and quite, so in that respect, the leaf blower was a real turn off. more

A nice place to stay in Port Townsend with good views of the water. We had the room on the lowere with extra space and it worked out well for a large group to congregate and did not disturb the other guests. The beds were very comfortable and the room was extra clean. The breakfasts were more than ample, make... more

I have stayed in many, many fine B&Bs, and this is in the upper echelon. Location is great at top of hill with view of harbor. Whole place is very clean, beautifully restored and furnished. Short walk down the hill to center of town (excellent restaurant just cupe blocks away called The Fountain). Outstanding breakfast, creative recipes, nicely served. more

Stayed at the James House on our way from Seattle to the Olympic Peninsula. Its difficult to find anything cheap on this side of the Sound, so we decided to go for it. This B&B is located high up on a cliff overlooking the Juan de Fuca Straight and Puget Sound...beautiful views when there isn't too much fog. Its an... more

This B&B has potential, but the breakfasts on two mornings in a row were TOTALLY disappointing. Ouch! First morning: scones and a quarter section of a waffle with berries, juice, tiny fruit cup and coffee. Total carbohydrates..NO protein whatsoever! The next day we arrived for breakfast at 8:30, 30 minutes after it began. We were forced to literally eat alone... more

I stayed in Room Number 1 - the Hideaway the second week of July 2009. Where do I begin. Well let's see for $250 a night - You get the smell of mold and mildew. You get to listen to the conversation of the people next door as if they were IN your room. You even get to listen to... more

This is a very charming B&B with a fabulous location. However, be prepared to deal with the downsides of charm. My husband and I went with friends for a weekend and luckily, only stayed one night here. We stayed in a basement suite (the Olympic Garden Suite) which had a strong unpleasant smell of mold and mildew. The downstairs doors... more

We stayed 2 nights, first night in the Bay Room, which had a view, if you sat in front of the small windows. The bed was really incomfortable for me, had a back ache when I woke up. The shower was OK. We didn't arrive until 5 pm so not much time to enjoy the large front porch facing the... more
