I have stayed here during the Blues Festival weekend for the past few years. It is conveniently located to the venues downtown yet very peaceful and quiet. The Inn is clean and charming and the mangers are always very welcoming and helpful. I look forward to coming here every year.

When we arrived at The Commander's Beach House my first thought was "what a beautiful location, walking distance to town yet set in privacy"! The owners were friendly and helpful as soon as we walked in the door which made it very easy to feel right at home. Our room was on the first floor and was quite small but... More

We loved staying at this wonderful beach house. Gail and Jim are fantastic hosts and helped us with restaurant reservations and places to see, rent bicycles, etc. The location could not be more ideal with a beautiful view of the sound, a gorgeous garden and an easy walk to fabulous restaurants. They served delicious healthy breakfasts and created a lovely... More

The hosts were outstanding; friendly, helpful with directions, plus the breakfasts were healthy and delicious! This Bed and Breakfast is within easy walking of the historic downtown. Maps were provided of the area. We had a downstairs corner room. With the windows open at night the breeze was so very refreshing. This place is located at the end of a... More

Wow! Friendly owners made us feel comfortable right from the start. We had the Lighthouse Suite with great views of the water and it was so great to hear the waves hitting the shore. Clean rooms with comfortable beds and it was very quiet as well. The breakfasts were like fine cuisine with their presentation and very yummy! Enjoyed sitting... More

Our stay at the Commander's Beach House was great. The innkeepers were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were outstanding and were tailored to meet our dietary restrictions. The location is right on the Sound and at night you can hear the waves lapping the shore and the clang of the channel buoy in the... More

Whether you're swinging in the 2-person swing or sitting on the porch, you'll love the peace and beauty of this one-of-a-kind B&B. Jim began our stay with advice on local restaurants (Silverwater Cafe is amazing!) and a generous pour that we sipped while strolling the beach. The Lighthouse Suite is roomier and quieter than most B&B rooms with lots of... More

The front yard of this B&B is right on the beach. We had a very nice room with a comfortable bed (athough on the first evening I fell asleep on the very comfortable couch). The host and hostess are very welcoming and the two breakfasts that we had were extremely good. We had a wonderful weekend in Port Townsend, I'm... More

What a fantastic B&B! My mom and I stayed in the Island View room with a panoramic view of the water and the Cascades and the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Gail & Jim are so warm and welcoming and the house is very nice, located next to the marina on probably the best plot of land in... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commander's Beach House is the only bed and breakfast that is located right on the water in downtown Port Townsend. You can walk on the beach to Fort Worden or easily stroll three blocks along the water front to all of the downtown shops and restaurants. Three of our rooms face the water and have private baths. Our fourth room faces the garden and has a shared bath located inside of the room. You can enjoy views of Admiralty Inlet, Mt. Baker, Whidbey Island, all of the boats and ships that go into Seattle, as well as vintage wooden schooners and yawls. Eagles, herons, otters and seals are frequently seen by our guests. A full sit down gourmet breakfast is served at individual tables or on our veranda, weather permitting. Come fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea and "relax and solve nothing"! ... more   less
