While Manresa is sufficiently intriguing to warrant one night's stay, its drawbacks are several: - poor maintenance (blinds and window opener not working in my room; old, inferior bedding, inadequate lighting) - abominable packaged breakfast food(?) - traffic noise from busy Sheridan St.; the hospital is right across the street from Manresa - loud buzzing noise from outside generators(?)

In less than 12 hours, I think I fell in love with this quirky old hotel! If I had the money I would buy it, though I would not call it a castle, as the façade is more French Château! Pros: Staff are all very sweet, proffessional, and accomodating. There are 2 acres of manicured lawn/ courtyard for guest to... More

The hotel is actually for sale, they are asking 3.4 million. Hopefully some rich athlete, movie star, or Tycoon will buy it and restore it to glory. The building is truly cool, with a great study/lobby straight out of a Harry Potter film. The rooms are ancient and antique but have character. The flaws though are many. It is not... More

Port Townsend is pricey, especially in the summer. This was my first stay at the Manresa; in the past I've stayed at the Aladdin. Both have friendly staff, comfortable beds and parking. Both have thin walls and very skimpy continental breakfasts. The stairs at the Manresa are steep and narrow, but the staff will take your bags to your room... More

4th time to Port Townsend and 4th historical stay; this time in the impressive "castle" on the hill. Old building as are its furnishings but nice architecture, interesting history, (complete with ghost stories), and decent restaurant. Steep narrow staircases but does have staff-operated antique elevator if needed. Could be a challenge for disabled people though. Lots of creaks and groans... More

My husband and I adore this place. We come back a couple of times a year. This time we are staying 4 nights. Sunday brunch is fabulous, and the staff is amazing. We were going to bring my dog this time, and they do have a couple of dog friendly rooms with a very good rate for pets. We will... More

This might be a great place when the weather isn't hot, but it is terrible when it is. The temp was about 100 when we visited and the room wasn't much cooler. It would have been impossible to sleep save for the ceiling fan. Nice big bathroom and the hotel seemed well appointed. Our room door had a large frosted... More

Walking up four flights of stairs to our room on the third floor, I couldn't stop giggling. 'This place can't be for real. I think I've stumbled through a wormhole into the set for Fawlty Towers'. From the carpet, to the drapery to the narrow stairwells, this place was vintage kitsch. I sent a picture of the light fixture in... More

Manresa Castle is elegant. The entire place is filled with period furnishings and is tastefully done. Our room was cute and the bed was amazingly comfy, best nights sleep in a while. The staff was extremly helpful, and very kind. My hubby has a bad knee and they took us up to our room in the elevator! Recommended a few... More

The Manresa Castle exceeded my expectations in all areas. Front desk staff are cheerful, helpful and insightful. The castle is quaint with a lot of character. Our room (#319) was large and elegant, and the king bed was amazingly comfortable. The bartender was super cool, shared a few of his "encounters" in the bar, made awesome drinks and allowed us...
