Just got back from the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival and the best part of the trip was the Palace Hotel. It was such a great experience and I would love to go back again. The rooms were historical but very comfortable. The most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in! Yes, there was a tall flight of stairs but... More

The hotel was situated in the centre of Port Townsend, just 2 minutes walk from the Upstage, one of the town's main live music venue's.The hotel had character with lots of interesting peices of antique furniture. There was no lift, which we knew about in advance. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a very comfortable bed. There was a... More

How do you spell disaster? You haven't lived until you have to lug your bags up three steep flights of stairs to an un-airconditioned room in the middle of a rare August heat wave in Washington state. Add to that smelly shower curtains, a non existent staff and bikers revving their engines at three in the morning in the street... More

We - my husband and I - arrived in Port Townsend having read a number of TA reviews and knew The Palace Hotel was our first choice. So with no reservation, we were delighted that one room -- Miss Lou -- was available. The person at the desk encouraged us to look at the rooms. We climbed the first flight... More

The Palace Hotel proved to be the perfect companion to a dark and stormy night. Set in an atmospheric Romanesque style building dating to 1889, the Palace has quite a storied history including a stint as a brothel during the early part of the 20th century. I was particularly impressed by the warm welcome provided on arrival and the readiness... More

My husband, three month old baby and I stayed two nights here and we loved it! We originally made reservations for room 10B, one of the cheapest rooms, but when we went to check in the man at the front desk he informed us they were slow and upgraded us to room 9, one of there most expensive rooms! The... More

My wife and I have travelled to the lovely Victorian old town district of Port Townsend, WA on several occasions, sometimes for day trips, and once before for an overnight stay, and it's one of our favorite spots for a romantic get away. Whether we're there to enjoy the scenery, the shopping, the architecture or the art, we always have... More

The Palace is quaint, historic & in a great location. It probably isn't the best place for small children or anyone who has mobility issues (lots of stairs), but it is great for a visit to Port Townsend.

If you haven't stayed in a former brothel complete with the squeeky bed, try this place. Old building but nicely renovated -- if you want your own bathroom/toilet, make sure to ask as some of the rooms share one.
