As Celiac's, we had a five star stay at Olympia WA's Fertile Ground Guesthouse. In addition to being knowledgeable (and accommodating) of those with Celiac Disease/Gluten Intolerance and Allergies, they are also Fragrance Free. Our time there was in early February. It was So Quiet at night. The home is on the Historic Registry and the grounds are full of... More

I come to Olympia regularly for work and I usually try to stay at fertile ground. They give government rate, the breakfasts are amazing, the location is convenient, the linens are soft, and you are not having your money go to a larger hotel chain. My only real criticisms are the South and North rooms only have a (shared) bathtub... More

I stayed in there bunk room at the end of July while passing through and it was great and affordable. I am a single traveler and love to meet the locals and learn about the area through them. They had a great breakfast and gracious hosts.

I called to make a same day reservation with the hope of a greener landing than a local hotel. The owners returned my call within a few hours to invite me to stay. They were very friendly and welcoming. I was given directions for entering the house and did not see them until the next morning. My room was clean... More

a couple of months ago I moved from Tucson back to the PNW. I stayed in Seattle for a couple of days then off to Olympia and the ground inn. what a wonderful place! clean and a top chief to boot. Chris and Kristin are the best! Best home cooked meals in the whole area and everything in neat, tidy... More

Lovely guesthouse with nice clean facilities, loved the fact you could help yourself to the fruits in their garden. Great peaceful location near the centre of town. Best breakfast of the holiday, all veggie and organic. Really welcoming hosts that are happy to stop and have interesting conversations with.

The ladies who run the Fertile Ground Guesthouse also have a 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom unit for rent on the near east side of Olympia. I was thrilled to have found it, since it is just a few blocks from my friends' house. I rented it for a week with two other women for a convenient place to stay while we... More

A charming but somewhat run-down 1908 house with large unkempt garden, Fertile Ground promised to be a nice change of scene for me and my 13 year-old son this past weekend. The proprietors were pleasant but not warm, perhaps because of a large wedding party in the backyard that was finishing up as we arrived. But when we pulled up... More

I'm so glad you reviewed our place. This gives me an opportunity to let anyone know that those noisy neighbors next door have finally been evicted - hurrah! Shortly after you were here they got busted for possession of drugs (no surprise) and now they'll be gone at the end of the month. The landlord who owns the house next... More

If you're casual and can handle sharing a bath with one other room - I can't imagine a better place to stay. Walking distance to downtown, but with a parklike atmosphere of it's own. We stayed two nights and wouldn't have minded having a little more time to just sit and hang out. Our breakfasts were very tasty. Organic waffles... More

Stayed there recently for a business trip. It's very close to the Capital Mall and The Dash bus system. I guess I didn't know what I was getting in to. I did not expect no TV or lack of internet. Luckily I had my computer to watch rented DVD's on. It was very quiet and peaceful. I slept very well.... More

Hi There, Thanks for reviewing us. I'm stumped about you not having internet during your visit. We've had internet in all of our rooms way before it was standard and we have 3 wifi routers on site to make sure the coverage is saturated and widely available. I'm sorry your visit coincided with an evening when something went offline. There... More
