Very friendly staff, described all the restaurants and taverns for us. The guy working the breakfast service was very pleasant. The hotel is older but still exudes class despite a rough looking tub, but it worked fine. Great view of the city. Good experience and will recommend. john more

This is a rather old and run down Hotel. The clerk tried to give us a lesser room than what we had paid for (in advance). Then tried to say that "the room we paid for was not guaranteed to be available when we arrived". They finely did give us the right type of room, but that should not have... more

The good news is that this hotel has a great view of Capital Lake. Our company purchased a block of 20 rooms and it was nice to be able to exercise and walk around the lake. Now for the downside, we got a corporate discount and only paid 100 per room. I have requested that they fire the person that... more

I stayed here when my 13-year-old was at a football camp, and did side business trips etc. It was perfectly servicable. Not new, not fancy, but just fine. The staff was exceptionally helpful to me on a number of occasions, especially Chris and Lynette. Decent hot breakfast, quite reasonable for its price range. Includes scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon so... more

Overwhelming smell of roach killer was in the room. I swear it made me nauseous. Musty, stinky. Do not let the decorated lobby fool you. Parking is in back. No security. No visibility. A thief’s haven. Worth $60 tops. My rate was $100. I refused the room, and said it was smelly. Not habitable. Went to the Red lion. Which... more

It is unfortunate this traveler was so put off and disappointed upon her arrival. Our staff took her concerns seriously and immediately investigated her comments of offensive smells and safety. We have a routine pest control system and follow strict procedures when dealing with chemicals. No chemicals had been used in the mentioned guest area or for that matter the...

I went to run the Olympia Marathon and this was the host hotel. The start and finish line were just in front of the hotel. Hotel is a bit older but it was clean. Over all, I had a very good experience. more

We had many problems while we were staying there. We booked a non-smoking suite and were downgraded to a smoking regular room without being contacted. We were told that the suites didn't have internet and they knew we wanted it (how since they had not spoken to or contacted us in any way.) Finally we managed to get the room... more

I grew up in Olympia and in the 70s it was THE PLACE so when my son and I were needing to stay I thought it would be perfect. OMG it reaked of stale cigs as well as other strange odors. It was a few years ago and hope it has improved. All the staff would do is bring me... more

The hotel was excellent on a price/value ratio. The rooms are outdated, but the one we had, which was on the higher floors, was very spacious and clean. Reception was exceptionally cheery and helpful. The BBQ restaurant is excellent. more

Stayed here for three nights on a weekend, and when all is said and done the Governor Hotel seems to be a quirky, basic, hotel in a nice little city. As pointed out in some of the other reviews, the hotel does have an unusual odor in the lobby and elevators, and parts of it are dated. The bathroom fixtures,... more
